If you're a California conservative, A libertarian, A
00:00:12
moderate Democrat, believe in common sense or just the same
00:00:15
person, this is the political podcast for you.
00:00:18
It's the California Underground Podcast.
00:00:29
What's going on? Everybody?
00:00:30
Thanks for tuning into another episode of the California
00:00:32
Underground Podcast. I'm your host, Phil, and as
00:00:34
always with me as my trusty coast, the best and fastest
00:00:37
researcher in the West Camille. How are you doing tonight?
00:00:40
I am good. So my sinuses are a little bit
00:00:42
crazy right now. So if I'm like what?
00:00:44
Or I talk weird, I apologize, that's why.
00:00:47
How are you? I'm good.
00:00:49
I'm trying to see. OK, Yeah, there was an issue.
00:00:54
Of course, the one time we try this big, beautiful new studio,
00:00:58
it seems that there's a problem with the software, not on our
00:01:01
side, but on Instagram side. So I'll keep an eye on that and
00:01:06
see what's going on right now. But we're trying to get to go
00:01:09
live for Instagram. So yeah, anyway, we are in a, as
00:01:15
you can see, a little bit of a different kind of space right
00:01:17
here. We got a new intro, things are a
00:01:19
little bit more fancy. We're trying a new streaming
00:01:21
software. We should be live on Twitter,
00:01:25
YouTube and Facebook. I'm going to keep an eye on
00:01:27
Instagram. Why?
00:01:28
Instagram is just not cooperating with anything.
00:01:32
It's a new thing right now. Instagram's trying out this
00:01:34
whole new like, you can stream through a third party.
00:01:37
It used to never be that way. You had to, like, stream through
00:01:40
the Instagram app. So now that they're allowing
00:01:43
this, I think it's brand new. Since last week, it's kind of
00:01:46
taking a little bit of time to to get off the ground.
00:01:49
But anyway, so did you stay nice and dry and warm while we were
00:01:55
with with all the rain that was coming up, I stayed.
00:01:58
At my cozy house. Lucky you.
00:02:00
Did you? Did you, did I drown?
00:02:05
No, I don't think it was that bad today, actually, I thought
00:02:07
it was actually not as bad as people were making it out to be,
00:02:12
just. I mean, like last week it it
00:02:15
seemed like it was pouring buckets, but this week it seemed
00:02:17
like it was a little bit of spritz and then by like one or
00:02:19
two, it was already sunny. I will say this though, as as
00:02:24
someone who grew up on the East Coast, and this is, you know,
00:02:27
just my observation of Southern Californians in general, y'all
00:02:33
have something against the rain and you're very scared of it.
00:02:37
I don't know what it is. I don't know what it is because
00:02:41
as I'm getting ready for work, I see all these emails coming in
00:02:48
from different Co workers. Like I got a case of the
00:02:50
sniffles and I'll be working from home today and then it was
00:02:53
another person. I as well got a case of the
00:02:55
sniffles and I'll be working from home today.
00:02:57
It's like you can just admit you don't want to drive in the rain.
00:03:00
I didn't know that a case of the sniffles was a thing.
00:03:02
To be honest. I didn't know people said that.
00:03:05
Yeah, people were just like, you know, I mean, I hey, I don't
00:03:09
carry work from home, whatever, do whatever.
00:03:10
But I just think it's funny, like you can just say I don't
00:03:12
want to drive in the rain, but it was interesting how like so
00:03:16
many people were like working from home today because
00:03:19
anticipation of the rain wasn't even really that bad, to be
00:03:23
completely honest. It it just kind of phased out
00:03:25
halfway through the day. But anyway, anyway, anyway,
00:03:30
we're just doing a little friendly banter before the show
00:03:33
now. This really frustrates me why we
00:03:35
can't do Instagram. We were so looking forward to
00:03:37
this and now it's Instagram's having a problem Anyway, so.
00:03:42
That we're on Twitter. Slash X and we're.
00:03:46
On YouTube. Let's see, once you're live.
00:03:50
Interesting. Interesting.
00:03:59
OK, So what I'm going to do right now, why don't you just
00:04:05
kind of update people on what we're going to talk about
00:04:07
tonight? We're going to talk about Carl
00:04:08
Demaio. Give me about 3 seconds to see
00:04:12
if I can get this going again. So Carl Demile, he's been up to
00:04:17
a lot since. What was the April of last 2023
00:04:20
that we last spoke about him. We had an episode, we promised
00:04:23
to Part 2, and we didn't get on that right away.
00:04:26
And things got even better for us, though, because we have so
00:04:29
much more that has happened. Yes, yes, absolutely.
00:04:34
Let's see, I am. I'm excited.
00:04:37
Are you excited? OK.
00:04:43
I'm very excited. I'm sorry.
00:04:45
I'm just trying to add this back in and see if this works.
00:04:48
Here we go. I'm very excited because I want
00:04:51
to, before we get started, I want people to oh, no, that
00:04:56
didn't even work. Interesting because this is such
00:05:01
a, this is a oh, here we go. I think.
00:05:04
I think it worked. There we go.
00:05:08
Congratulations. We're live on Instagram.
00:05:11
OK. Anyway, so yes, a little bit of
00:05:15
background on what happened. It looks good.
00:05:17
I'm sorry. Did you see?
00:05:19
Oh, it does, Yeah, I can see it over here.
00:05:20
It actually looks really good as opposed to the other software
00:05:24
where it's like half of our. Face You don't see my fireplace
00:05:27
in like your instruments? Yeah, so welcome everybody who
00:05:30
is joining live on Instagram X I'm still not used to saying XX,
00:05:36
YouTube and Facebook. Thank you for everyone for
00:05:38
tuning in. Thank you.
00:05:40
Someone already commented. It looks really good.
00:05:42
Thank you very much. Anyway, so do.
00:05:44
We look good. What are we talking about?
00:05:47
We were talking about the rain and one of her favorites anyway,
00:05:54
Carl de Mayo. So we we had an episode back
00:05:56
last summer about Carl de Mayo. Now, a lot of people who don't
00:05:59
maybe aren't familiar with like San Diego local politics are
00:06:03
probably like who the heck is Carl de Mayo and why do we care
00:06:05
about Carl de Mayo? He's very influential.
00:06:08
He's very powerful down here in San Diego.
00:06:10
Some people say he runs the San Diego GOP.
00:06:14
I would probably agree with that, that he does run the San
00:06:17
Diego GOP. He has a lot of power and
00:06:20
influence because he can raise a lot of money.
00:06:22
I will give him kudos on the fact that he is incredible at
00:06:24
raising money. We're going to go over some of
00:06:26
the numbers of like how much money he can actually raise.
00:06:31
But if, if you remember, sort of, OG fans will remember that
00:06:37
our thing, even though we talk a lot about politics, is we we've
00:06:41
done a good amount of exposing grifters in the political
00:06:44
movement here in California. And why is that?
00:06:47
Is it because there are plenty of politicians and there are
00:06:50
plenty of people who know that people in California are
00:06:55
desperate for help. They're desperate for change.
00:06:58
They're desperate for someone to come in and help them.
00:07:00
They're desperate for someone to kind of turn the tide a little
00:07:03
bit, and I think there's a good amount of people who know that
00:07:06
and know that they can take advantage.
00:07:08
Now, even though everyone thinks that Californians is like deep
00:07:12
blue state, which it definitely is, there's plenty of
00:07:15
conservatives and Republicans. And in 2020, more Republicans
00:07:20
voted in the state of California for Donald Trump than in any
00:07:23
other state, which is pretty incredible to think that
00:07:25
California had the most Republicans voting for Donald
00:07:27
Trump. There's a lot of Republicans,
00:07:29
there's a lot of conservatives. There's a lot of people who are
00:07:31
looking for help. And there are some people who
00:07:35
recognize that and they move into that space and figure it
00:07:39
out. This is my opinion disclaimer.
00:07:44
A lot of this is opinion. This is our observation on a lot
00:07:47
of this stuff. A lot of this is also public
00:07:48
record, which we're going to show you tonight.
00:07:51
I believe Carl de Maio is one of those people.
00:07:53
He sees the opportunity. He knows there's a lot of people
00:07:55
who are desperate for wanting to see some sort of change.
00:07:58
He's been very good at putting these packs together and these
00:08:01
nonprofits and all that stuff. He's very good at kind of
00:08:04
rallying the troops. He had a radio show for a long
00:08:06
time. He had to step down from his
00:08:08
radio show because of the assembly run.
00:08:11
Oh yeah, spoiler alert, he's running for a state assembly
00:08:14
now. We'll get into that.
00:08:17
And that's that's sort of why we're talking about Carl Demaio
00:08:20
and we're going to go over this stuff so that generally you
00:08:24
hopefully our hope is that you can learn from this and if you
00:08:30
have any questions you can always DM me or Camille
00:08:33
Camille's 100 times better at than I am that's why I call her
00:08:36
the best and fastest researcher in the West.
00:08:39
If you have any questions on how to look up people if there's a
00:08:42
red flag or something that you're like this politician or
00:08:45
this person doesn't really feel right to me.
00:08:48
So therefore maybe I should look into him.
00:08:51
So where we left off, this is like a previously on California
00:08:57
Underground. Last time we talked about mostly
00:09:01
Reform California, which is Carl De Mayo's PAC, which is
00:09:05
essentially the nucleus of everything that Carl De Mao
00:09:08
does. PACs are set up for a specific
00:09:13
number of reasons, whether it's to support ballot initiatives,
00:09:16
whether it's to promote certain candidates.
00:09:18
But the one general rule of PACs is what they are not supposed to
00:09:26
coordinate with candidates. Because we have these things
00:09:30
called contribution limits and campaign contribution limits, so
00:09:33
that you can't pay to one candidate a lot of money.
00:09:37
So you can set up packs, you can set up super PACs and stuff like
00:09:39
that. They're not supposed to
00:09:40
coordinate. And we left off last time.
00:09:44
We got an e-mail from Carl Demaio that day that we started
00:09:48
to examine, which showed it's clear as day.
00:09:53
It showed Reform California, yada yada yada looked exactly
00:09:56
like if you got an e-mail from Reform California.
00:09:58
Yeah. To clarify, it was like a reform
00:10:00
California e-mail went out like he didn't like e-mail, You and
00:10:02
I. No.
00:10:04
No, no, It's like, it's like. That day it's like, no.
00:10:08
Exactly, which we'll explain a little bit more in what's going
00:10:11
on with him right now. But yeah, if you sign up to his
00:10:14
e-mail list, he's going to e-mail you.
00:10:15
You get this e-mail, it says Reform California.
00:10:18
It's got his logo, it's got his colors and all that stuff.
00:10:20
You look at it and if you were not really paying attention, it
00:10:23
looks like a a Reform California e-mail.
00:10:26
You look and go, oh, OK, I like Reform California.
00:10:29
I've donated to them in the in the past.
00:10:32
Therefore, let me see what's going on.
00:10:33
I think there's something about, do you want to help flip state
00:10:36
offices? Yeah, sure, I want to help flip
00:10:39
state offices. I think that's important.
00:10:42
You go down, he has a little spiel about how important it is
00:10:44
and Democrats and blah blah blah.
00:10:48
Then you get to the bottom. It says donate here.
00:10:51
You click on the donate because you're excited.
00:10:53
You're moved by his wonderful e-mail that he wrote or intern
00:10:56
wrote or somebody wrote. I doubt Carl Demaio wrote it.
00:10:59
You go to click on it and you go to donate.
00:11:03
But if you go all the way down, what did it say?
00:11:08
It said donations go to Carl Demaio for Central Committee
00:11:13
2024. Right.
00:11:16
So if you were someone who was not really paying attention, you
00:11:18
would. Tiny little.
00:11:20
The tiny little print. Tiny, tiny, you know, you could
00:11:23
see it, but you have to scroll all the way down.
00:11:25
There's all this white space in between all the way down, says
00:11:28
Carl de Mao for Central Committee 2024.
00:11:31
So if you were someone who was looking at this e-mail and you
00:11:33
were a reformed California person, you would say I'm
00:11:36
donating to Reform California because I want him to help flip
00:11:40
the state offices, when in reality you're actually donating
00:11:44
for him to run for central Committee of the San Diego
00:11:47
Republican Party. Little bait and switch there.
00:11:50
And I definitely think that's something that he's kind of
00:11:53
toeing the line on it. It seems like, especially now
00:11:57
that he's running for assembly, there's kind of this like, I
00:12:01
don't know it, it's kind of merging together.
00:12:03
Reform California now it's different.
00:12:05
It's called like Reform California something else.
00:12:06
He's renamed it, but we're going to get into that tonight.
00:12:09
And that's kind of where we left off is his kind of games to get
00:12:16
people to donate to him under the auspicion that they're
00:12:19
donating for something and then it turns into something else.
00:12:21
He's no longer running for Central Committee, yes.
00:12:24
Before you move on from that, can you explain what somebody
00:12:27
running for central committee, what they're doing like what
00:12:30
what are they running for specifically?
00:12:33
Central Committee is in charge of your county party if anyone
00:12:39
in the chat wants to clarify a little bit more.
00:12:41
So it's basically like the board, I guess that like runs
00:12:44
the party and then they pick a chair or do does the party pick
00:12:49
a chair? I don't know someone in the chat
00:12:51
who's watching on any of our streams.
00:12:54
Go ahead and put in the comment right now.
00:12:55
Let me know. I'm not that familiar, but just
00:12:58
there's, you know, California's a big state, but we have the
00:13:01
California GOP and then within that and they have their board
00:13:04
and everything. And then within that we have all
00:13:06
these central committees. So that's he was running for San
00:13:09
Diego central committee obviously GOP non DNC and and so
00:13:14
I think within that then that county they'll endorse
00:13:17
candidates and so the the people who win the elected seats such
00:13:22
as if Carl Demile had you know run for 24 and ran won that seat
00:13:26
and then the others who had the seat they're the ones who get to
00:13:30
vote on I guess bylaws and endorsements if if I'm not
00:13:34
mistaken and then there I'm sure there's other little things
00:13:37
along the way. Yeah, I think that it's
00:13:40
basically it's just the the committee that helps run the the
00:13:44
entire party and then there's like subcommittees based on
00:13:47
district, stuff like that. So, so someone said, I'm part of
00:13:52
the Riverside County Central Committee.
00:13:53
The central community is the entity under elections code for
00:13:56
each party that runs the party by county.
00:13:58
Cool. Thank you, Samantha.
00:14:02
I love all the chats in one spot.
00:14:03
That's nice to see. Everything makes it nice and
00:14:05
clean. So yeah, that's where we left
00:14:08
off. He was running for Central
00:14:09
Committee, no longer running for Central committee because out of
00:14:13
nowhere he has now decided to run for state Assembly.
00:14:19
Cynthia says for San Diego and Central Committee, it's elected
00:14:22
in March the cycle and then eventually they'll elect the
00:14:24
officers, including the chair. There you go.
00:14:27
See, that's why we have people on here who know more than.
00:14:30
Clarify what they do like they were.
00:14:33
Elected to call. Well, we we talked about this.
00:14:36
So Carl Demaio decided couple months ago he was going to run
00:14:40
for state assembly. Sure.
00:14:41
It was a couple months ago. What district did he pick?
00:14:46
Pick. Well, he didn't pick the
00:14:49
district that he technically lives in.
00:14:52
Which is a we. Don't want we we don't want to.
00:14:57
We have a dock and we don't want to put it up because we don't
00:14:59
want to dox him. We don't want people to be like,
00:15:01
oh, you put his address up. That's not cool.
00:15:03
That is, Pablo. It is public, you can go find
00:15:06
it, but we don't want to get accused of like we're trying to
00:15:08
dox Carl de Mao. So he decided to run for state
00:15:13
assembly in the 75th. I initially got it wrong and I
00:15:17
think the graphic says 77th, which I think is where he lives.
00:15:21
He technically lives in the 76. He lives in 76.
00:15:25
He lives in the 76. Which is Christy Rose Lane is
00:15:28
running for that seat. And of course, he is Christy
00:15:31
Rose Lane cheerleader and has endorsed her.
00:15:36
Yeah. We're going to look at the voter
00:15:38
guide in a little bit. We've had our own run insurance
00:15:40
with with Christie Bruce Lane, but so he's decided to run for
00:15:45
the state Assembly seat. Why?
00:15:47
Is it because that there's no one there?
00:15:49
Is it because it's a vulnerable seat?
00:15:50
He saw an opportunity. They twisted his arm.
00:15:54
Is that why he ran? No, there's actually already
00:15:58
someone running. There's actually two people
00:16:00
already running. Andrew Hayes, who's running, and
00:16:02
he's actually the endorsed candidate by the San Diego
00:16:05
County GOP. Just as of a couple weeks ago,
00:16:09
there was another guy named Jack Fernandez who kind of bowed out
00:16:13
after Carl Dimaio jumped into the race.
00:16:15
So it was Jack Fernandez and Andrew Hayes.
00:16:17
Now we have Carl Dimaio and Andrew Hayes.
00:16:21
So they're running against each other in a district that is
00:16:24
pretty favorable to both of them.
00:16:26
So it is a chance that they could, either one of them could
00:16:29
go to the assembly. Why is he actually running?
00:16:34
I mean, I could I we could sit here and speculate as to why
00:16:37
he's running. Is it the new the idea that he
00:16:39
could raise a lot of money by running for state assembly?
00:16:42
Is it like his past campaigns that he's run?
00:16:45
Remember in the last episode we talked about, yeah, he won for
00:16:49
City Council, then he ran for Congress, and then he ran for
00:16:51
Congress again. Both were unsuccessful.
00:16:55
So is this a new kind of thing that he can do to raise a lot
00:16:59
more money? So that's sort of where we're at
00:17:03
right now. Where do you want to start with
00:17:05
all this information? Because we got a ton of
00:17:06
information to get to before the rest of the episode.
00:17:11
I have no idea. Let's start with 20 Central
00:17:16
Committee 2024 campaign. OK, what do you want to talk
00:17:21
about? Well OK so he he was, correct me
00:17:26
if I'm wrong. He was until just recently
00:17:30
already on the central committee GOP San Diego.
00:17:33
Correct. He was an elected member.
00:17:37
He stepped down due to his run for assembly but he was running
00:17:41
again for 2024. So he had a a campaign open, a
00:17:45
committee open for that, which he was able to fundraise a lot
00:17:51
of money on and we talked about the little bait and switch on
00:17:54
that e-mail. So we know that there was a lot
00:18:00
of money in the central Committee for 2024 campaign,
00:18:03
which he has since terminated that campaign.
00:18:06
He's no longer running for Central Committee 2024.
00:18:08
He did open a Central committee 2028.
00:18:12
Whether or not he'll run for that, who knows.
00:18:14
That's obviously years away, but he he opened that committee and
00:18:17
threw some money in there and of course he opened the assembly
00:18:20
run. But let's now talk about what
00:18:22
happens with all this money that he raised for Central Committee
00:18:25
2024. Where does it go?
00:18:27
What happens to it? Well, we're going to get into
00:18:31
that book first. OK?
00:18:33
I'm going to comment it on Instagram, which is kind of
00:18:36
interesting. And to dog Oholic, I just want
00:18:39
to let you know, Stay tuned, he says.
00:18:42
Jack has not bowed out, unless that's happened within the last
00:18:45
two days. So either Jack it it has not
00:18:48
bowed out, or Carl is lying because we're going to watch a
00:18:51
video where Carl thinks I. Did notice that actually, and I
00:18:54
was going to bring that up. So Carl might be not telling the
00:18:59
full truth on what's going on with Jack.
00:19:01
Well, I. Texted you today, but you're
00:19:04
kind of ignoring me. And I said because I got to the
00:19:06
part, but I don't. I don't want to give away the
00:19:08
spoilers of the video, but I said it feels like when he's
00:19:11
talking about Jack, it's kind of like it's like a trump move the
00:19:14
way you know, Jack is a good guy.
00:19:15
He's one of my good friends. I love him dearly.
00:19:18
But then I I won't say more about what I what I said because
00:19:21
I don't. We'll get to the video and then
00:19:22
I'll add my comments. But yeah, OK, so I want to show
00:19:27
this screen. OK, bear with me.
00:19:32
I'm going to try and do this. There we go.
00:19:43
So this is, oh, that's not it. Sorry, this is.
00:19:48
We're going to talk about this in a little bit, so.
00:19:50
Many things. Bear with me, I am still.
00:19:53
I'm trying to get used to this new studio software.
00:19:58
Again, I always put this out there.
00:20:00
If there's anybody who wants to be producer of the California
00:20:03
Underground Podcast, please feel free to contact us at California
00:20:06
underground@protonmail.com or yeah.com.
00:20:10
OK, here we go. So Carl Demaio made this big
00:20:14
huge statement, $951 in 24 days, which sounds like a crap
00:20:21
ton of money to raise. Wait, hold on, I'm interrupting
00:20:24
you because for those who are watching on video, you see how
00:20:28
it says it shows that his Twitter handle at Carl Demaio.
00:20:31
Nothing to see here yet. This is because this is a
00:20:34
screenshot that I sent and I'm blocked so.
00:20:36
I can't. I'm I'm also blocked by Carl de
00:20:41
Mao on Twitter. So yeah, we we can't see Carl de
00:20:45
Mao's tweets because he blocked both of us anyway. 951 in 24
00:20:51
days. Carl de Mao's campaign for state
00:20:52
Assembly releases initial tally just 24 days after Carl de Mao
00:20:56
announced he was running for California State Assembly.
00:20:58
So to bring the energy and innovative solutions of his
00:21:01
Reform California movement into the state, that's what he's now
00:21:04
changing to. It's the Reform California
00:21:06
movement. It's not long.
00:21:07
He doesn't call it a pack anymore into the state
00:21:09
legislature. His campaign has brought in more
00:21:11
than $951 to lock down the seat and starts January with
00:21:16
nearly $900 on cash. So that sounds like a lot of
00:21:20
money to raise in 24 days. It sounds like he's like, super
00:21:24
popular, Correct? Correct.
00:21:27
That's a lot of money in 24 days.
00:21:29
That is a lot of money. That's a ton of money.
00:21:33
But you were looking at some stuff and I'm going to pull it
00:21:36
up and you may have to like you're you'll have to guide me
00:21:38
and drive the drive it a little bit to show where I'm looking
00:21:42
and so we can show everybody who's tuning in.
00:21:45
OK, hold on. I'm getting the hang of this.
00:21:50
OK, So I think it. Is this the 3400 page document?
00:21:57
Yes, this is the 3400 page document.
00:22:00
OK, All right. Tell me what I'm looking at
00:22:02
because you put this in the notes.
00:22:03
Looking at OK, so they have to candidates have to once they
00:22:08
start like if they raise over $2000, they have to release
00:22:14
their financials and there's a schedule of depending on how
00:22:19
long they've been running and and how close the election it is
00:22:21
and stuff. And so this is, let me see so
00:22:25
this is starting from July 1st, 2023 till the end of 2023.
00:22:30
Financials that he brought in for this is for his assembly
00:22:36
campaign. So something to note here, I
00:22:41
should probably just pull this up because I'm like looking at
00:22:43
the tiny little screen here. This is.
00:22:49
Are you sure this is the 34? Yes, this is the 3400 page
00:22:53
document. OK, Scroll down a couple pages.
00:22:59
OK, actually there. Just stop.
00:23:02
OK, see how there's a name and amount?
00:23:07
And then below that a transfer. Yes.
00:23:12
OK, scroll slowly to show how not not all of them, but just
00:23:18
how often this transfer appears. OK, so there was one on this
00:23:22
page. There was another one.
00:23:25
There's two, there's two, there's three.
00:23:30
It's like every other one at this point.
00:23:33
Yeah, it's like every other one transfer.
00:23:35
Show a ton. But it's like, OK, So what?
00:23:39
Just side note, if you're looking at the occupations of
00:23:41
everybody who also donates, keep in mind right here, retired, a
00:23:46
lot of retirees. Majority retirees OK so this
00:23:50
transfer what this is these are transfers from his central
00:23:55
committee 2024 account. Now this is legal.
00:23:59
Just want to point that out. I'm I'm not saying that that was
00:24:01
wrong him to do but OK I have the numbers.
00:24:06
I sent you an e-mail. Let me pull up my e-mail because
00:24:10
I think I laid this all out. Where's my first, my first set
00:24:15
of notes? I want to I want to give you
00:24:20
guys some numbers. OK, OK.
00:24:22
Here go to page 456. Of this document.
00:24:26
Of that document. I'm sorry you guys.
00:24:32
We're we're, I like I'm trying to make this as easy to digest
00:24:36
as possible. But there's there's a lot OK on
00:24:43
here. Transfer.
00:24:45
OK, so he transferred. No.
00:24:51
Is that that's not the one. Scroll down one page.
00:24:55
I have it written as 456. But I wonder if I.
00:25:01
Hold on. Hold on.
00:25:02
You're OK. Some are on here.
00:25:05
I swear some are on here. There is a a transfer pay Carl
00:25:10
de Mile for Central Committee 2020 eight $8617.00.
00:25:14
So he he transferred $8600 to his Central Committee 2028
00:25:20
campaign. Again legal.
00:25:23
He closed. He terminated the 2024 Central
00:25:25
Committee and he's got his thing with all his money.
00:25:28
There's all that money sitting there.
00:25:29
So he transferred 8600 to his 2028 Central Committee campaign.
00:25:34
OK. But then what we learn is that
00:25:39
he transferred 4608. Eighty 468?
00:25:46
Am I saying 100? Basically 4?
00:25:48
$168. Just under 469 hundred $1000
00:25:55
from Central Committee to State Assembly 2024.
00:26:00
I want to say clarify again, this is not illegal.
00:26:03
That's not shady, but that is where basically $500 of that
00:26:09
almost $1 raised in 24 days.
00:26:12
No, that's a lot. He transferred from the Central
00:26:15
Committee $500 ish, meaning that was raised over a period of
00:26:21
like a year and then he ran and was like, look how popular and
00:26:26
everyone loves me. This is how much money I raised
00:26:28
in 24 days. No, you transferred and then on
00:26:31
that same document there is a $100 loan for I think page
00:26:40
303 shows two loans to the Demile and himself 3. 1000 Say
00:26:46
It Again, 3000. Two 3265.
00:26:52
Called Demile. Loaned himself 9000, called
00:26:56
Demile 91. OK, people do this all the time,
00:27:00
but now that's another 100K of this 950K that he says he raised
00:27:05
in 20-4 days. So now we have dropped the
00:27:08
number down to well, I think I did the actual math.
00:27:19
Basically he raised about 200 and 8600 thousand.
00:27:25
Yeah. So the point that we're trying
00:27:27
to we're we're going over here and This is why this is almost a
00:27:30
3500 page document. So excellent work on Camille's
00:27:34
part to look at this. It's not illegal.
00:27:37
Again, we have to say that it's not illegal, but it is
00:27:42
deceptive. And if you're sending out
00:27:44
mailers and information that Carl Demaio raised all of this
00:27:48
money like almost $1. If you were someone who was
00:27:53
supporting Carl Demaio or let's say you didn't really understand
00:27:56
like well, should I support Andrew Hayes or Carl Demaio, you
00:28:00
look at that and go, wow, Carl De Maio raised almost $1
00:28:03
in under a month. That's that's really impressive.
00:28:05
I guess he's the better candidate.
00:28:07
But when more than, like half of that money based on these
00:28:11
filings comes from another campaign, which going back to
00:28:17
that campaign was already deceptive because they were
00:28:20
using reformed California emails to get people to donate to a
00:28:25
central committee. So now all of a sudden you're
00:28:27
going, OK, it's like deception to get the money to the central
00:28:30
committee. Now it's deception to get that
00:28:32
money from central committee to his assembly.
00:28:36
So that's kind of what we're trying to point out here.
00:28:39
And why is it, you know, again, not saying anything is illegal
00:28:43
here or anything's wrong. There may be something wrong
00:28:45
with the fact that he uses Reform California a little bit
00:28:48
too much and kind of buries the lead and has like his Central
00:28:51
committee and his State Assembly and they're all running or
00:28:54
they're all in the same e-mail. But the reason we bring this up
00:28:59
is so if you're donating to someone, you should know where
00:29:02
this money is going, right? If you donated to Carl De Mao
00:29:07
for Central Committee because you believed he was going to do
00:29:09
something for Central Committee, you've now that money's now gone
00:29:13
to him to run for state Assembly and maybe you support that.
00:29:16
But if you're someone who opened that e-mail like we showed last
00:29:19
summer, where you want him and his pack to flip state seats,
00:29:25
all of a sudden it's going to central committee and then that
00:29:26
central committee is going to a state assembly.
00:29:29
Right. And that that frustrates me
00:29:32
because there's there's people that I might support for a
00:29:36
certain seat but not another seat due to whatever reason.
00:29:40
Like if you if I hear that you're running for mayor of San
00:29:43
Diego, I would probably support you for that.
00:29:46
I don't live in San Diego. I can't vote for you, but I
00:29:49
would probably donate to your campaign.
00:29:51
Like, I know you. I trust you.
00:29:53
You know, I, I know you don't have experience in actual
00:29:55
politics, but you're a constitutional attorney,
00:29:57
obviously. Like, we're friends.
00:29:59
I know you're very intelligent. And I'd be like, yeah, you know
00:30:01
what? You know a lot about politics
00:30:03
and the city. And you've been there for a
00:30:04
while. Like, you'd probably make a
00:30:06
great mayor. But if all of a sudden then you
00:30:09
switch that to a totally different and you're like, oh,
00:30:12
I'm running for the governor of California and you, like,
00:30:15
transferred it all. I'd be like, wait, hold up,
00:30:16
Phil, Like, what are you doing with my donation and are you
00:30:21
really fit to run for governor? Because no, you're not.
00:30:23
No offense, but like, so it's like, why would I?
00:30:27
I would, I would I donate to you to run for governor If I'm like,
00:30:30
no, like, I don't, I'm sorry, I'm just going to get that out
00:30:33
there right now. Phil, if you decide tomorrow
00:30:35
that you're going to run for governor in 2026, I'm probably
00:30:38
not going to support you on that.
00:30:39
That's. Perfectly fine you.
00:30:40
Decide that you want to run for mayor in a year or two.
00:30:42
I'm probably going to support you on that.
00:30:45
That's also fun. I don't plan on running for
00:30:47
mayor. Ever.
00:30:48
So I know, but I'm just saying that it's such a world of
00:30:51
difference of I support you for Central committee and I support
00:30:54
you for assembly. It's not the same thing and
00:30:56
that's why I think that's wrong. Yeah, and sadly it is like we
00:31:01
have to keep repeating ourselves for legal reasons.
00:31:03
It is legal to do this. And there are a lot of
00:31:07
candidates who fall into this group, and we're not going to
00:31:10
name names. But there's a lot of candidates
00:31:13
in California, especially on the conservative side, who will
00:31:16
raise a crap ton of money and they'll just kind of shuffle it
00:31:18
around. They'll just go, OK, I raised,
00:31:20
you know, a crap ton of money for Congress, OK, now I can move
00:31:23
it around to something else. Then I can move it around.
00:31:25
Like they can just kind of keep taking that money with them and
00:31:28
moving it around. And like you may support them
00:31:31
for Congress, but then all of a sudden they move over here and
00:31:33
do something else. To me that that is that just
00:31:38
does come off as deceptive and shady.
00:31:40
And if I were like you said to your point, if I was getting
00:31:44
emails that said one thing and then all of a sudden the person
00:31:47
I'm donating to is doing something completely different,
00:31:50
I would feel, I I would feel kind of like I was cheated.
00:31:55
Like well, what What did I spend money for?
00:31:57
I supported you for this one thing.
00:32:00
Unless, of course, you're a Carl Demao Stan who just loves
00:32:02
everything that Carl de Mao does.
00:32:04
So if you. Are retired and live in, you
00:32:07
know, and have some money to spare and hate California
00:32:09
politics or else probably the guy that you want to, you know,
00:32:13
throw money at. Yeah, someone actually.
00:32:17
Donors can ask for their money returned.
00:32:20
They can, but are they even aware that there's this bait and
00:32:24
switch happened like? That's, yeah, that's another
00:32:27
thing. Unless people like us actually
00:32:29
go through it. Or or I would say Someone Like
00:32:31
You who goes through the 3000 page document and finds this
00:32:34
stuff did. I just searched for keywords,
00:32:37
you know, I didn't read 3500. Pages, but still.
00:32:40
So if someone saw three thousand, if someone saw 3000
00:32:43
pages, they're going to be like, hell no, I'm not reading that
00:32:46
whole thing, but. I sincerely did not read 3500
00:32:49
pages of this. No thank.
00:32:52
Thankfully all this stuff is text searchable.
00:32:56
So you know that is something that to me is is kind of
00:33:00
deceptive. Now again, I want to talk about
00:33:02
something else in terms of forget the money we brought up,
00:33:08
the fact does Carl, is he running to represent his own
00:33:13
district like where he lives? Did he wake up and go?
00:33:17
I want to represent the constituents that live around
00:33:20
me, where I live. Is that what he's doing right
00:33:24
now? No.
00:33:26
No, because as we've already mentioned, he does not live in
00:33:32
that district. He does not.
00:33:34
We have 100% proof. We do have proof and again we
00:33:38
don't want to show the document just because we don't want to
00:33:40
dox him and. We show people how to find it
00:33:42
again. It's public, it's totally
00:33:43
public, and it's there for a reason.
00:33:45
You could show people how to to find it.
00:33:49
Should we do that? You have all the power to it,
00:33:52
OK? Where do I go?
00:33:54
Walk me through like I'm like I'm learning.
00:33:57
You have my e-mail the the first e-mail of notes.
00:34:00
OK, got it. OK, Scroll down to the when I
00:34:06
I'm like moving on. Go to fpvc.ca.com Click on that.
00:34:11
OK. And then read read my
00:34:13
instructions there and then you can just stop short of pulling
00:34:15
up the document. Or you can pull up the document
00:34:17
and only show up certain parts. OK.
00:34:20
All right, let's see. Scroll down to.
00:34:24
I want to. Well show.
00:34:27
I can show people, yeah, let's see, this is more of an
00:34:34
educational podcast tonight. Just for everyone who is is
00:34:36
curious. Just.
00:34:39
Using Carl as an example, yeah, OK, so this is the, this is
00:34:43
better fppc.ca.gov is that correct?
00:34:47
Oh no, this is the Secretary of State.
00:34:49
I got the wrong one. Again, I'll get the hang of
00:34:53
this. You want www.fppc.ca.gov Gov.
00:35:02
Yep, this is what it looks like. OK, OK.
00:35:05
So you see it's on the left there, it says Form 700.
00:35:09
Anyway, we're going to the Form 700 is a form that many
00:35:13
candidates, not all in California, are required to file
00:35:16
showing where they get their income from like if they have
00:35:22
investments and stuff. Just because some of this could
00:35:25
be considered, what's the word I'm looking for if because you
00:35:32
know we hear a lot of people get into office and then all of a
00:35:34
sudden they get rich off stock. So this is.
00:35:36
Like a conflict of interest. Yeah, a conflict interest and
00:35:39
so, So you're going to Scroll down to where it says I want to.
00:35:45
So that's not too far down, but a little bit more, a little bit
00:35:48
more. There you go.
00:35:49
OK. So this says I want to and then
00:35:51
under view, under the tab that's there, view the for the 700
00:35:55
filing by office, right, Yes, filed by an elected official.
00:36:03
And then you're going to click on Search for a Form 700 filed
00:36:06
after September 1st, 2016. OK.
00:36:15
Scroll a little so we can see is it opening up for you.
00:36:17
It looks like it's not There it goes, OK.
00:36:21
So here all you would have to do is search for the last name.
00:36:24
De Mayo. Yeah, you by doing this, you're
00:36:28
not going to show anything yet. So you can you can still hit
00:36:30
search and you're safe. OK.
00:36:32
So it pulled up Carl De Mayo, his his filing and then you
00:36:36
would click on the little microscope.
00:36:39
What is that called on a microscope?
00:36:41
Sorry, I cannot talk tonight. You would click on that and
00:36:44
that's going to bring up the Form 700 filing that's going to
00:36:47
show his investments including properties he owns that maybe he
00:36:53
runs out and stuff like that. So that is how you would look at
00:36:58
the Form 700 on that form. It actually shows his address
00:37:04
that he lives at with his husband and then and they've
00:37:08
owned that house for several years.
00:37:11
And then when you scroll through that form, then he shows his
00:37:14
current, what he lists as an apartment.
00:37:18
It's a single family home. I guess he's allegedly renting a
00:37:20
room from that. He started renting December 1st,
00:37:24
2023. And of course they looked up
00:37:27
that house's single family home. There's like a woman who I
00:37:30
believe is recently divorced because because I do my thorough
00:37:33
research. Think she lives with with her
00:37:35
adult daughter. So he's allegedly renting a room
00:37:37
but he listed it as apt 1. Again single family residence,
00:37:40
not his not in his name. I have access to voter data.
00:37:45
It's he's not registered to vote there.
00:37:48
This this other woman is Him and his husband are registered to
00:37:51
vote at his address that is in District 76, not 75, but is
00:37:56
using this place of residence as his fake address that he started
00:38:01
renting December 20, December 1st, 2023.
00:38:05
So he quickly got I I believe he probably is legitimately paying
00:38:11
to rent this room just so that he has, you know, the address,
00:38:16
but again, he does not live there.
00:38:18
He lives in District 76, not 75. And and just for clarification,
00:38:26
there is a rule that you have to live in the district.
00:38:29
There is a rule that you were you have to live in.
00:38:31
Not only do you have to live in the district at the time of
00:38:33
filing, which is why he has a fake address, but apparently
00:38:37
there is an unenforced rule in the California Constitution that
00:38:41
you have to have lived in the district for at least one year
00:38:44
prior to filing to run in that office.
00:38:47
Would you like to hear that whole text?
00:38:50
Please. So if anybody is curious, it's
00:38:52
Article 4, Section 2, Subsection C, Quote.
00:38:56
A person is ineligible to be a member of the legislature unless
00:39:00
the person is an elector and has been a resident of the
00:39:04
legislative district for one year and a citizen of the United
00:39:08
States and a resident of California for three years.
00:39:10
Immediately preceding the election and service of the full
00:39:13
term of office to which the person is seeking to be elected
00:39:16
would not exceed the maximum years of service permitted by
00:39:18
division, blah blah blah. So if he rented this room
00:39:25
December of last year, he still wouldn't have lived in the
00:39:30
district for one year prior to the election because the
00:39:35
election's in November, so he still has to.
00:39:37
He would have had to register probably in September to qualify
00:39:41
for a full year to again, For those on audio, I'm putting a
00:39:45
lot of air quotes. Darn it, I knew it was going to
00:39:48
happen again. Don't.
00:39:49
Do that. For some reason, balloons keep
00:39:54
coming out. Yeah.
00:39:56
So I'm not going to do any air quotes, no.
00:39:59
Air quotes. He should have been living in
00:40:02
this apartment since September, so he's already behind on that
00:40:07
and in violation of the California Constitution.
00:40:09
But like you said, it is something that's not readily
00:40:11
enforced. I don't think it's something
00:40:14
I've never really heard of, a lot of people getting dinged for
00:40:17
this. Right.
00:40:18
They do it all the time. Doesn't make it OK, but they do
00:40:20
it all the time. I mean, they should crack down
00:40:22
on it just because if the intent of the California Constitution
00:40:25
is you should live in this district that you're actually
00:40:28
planning on representing, they should start cracking down on
00:40:30
this stuff. Like, do you actually live here
00:40:32
or you just renting someone's basement or like their one
00:40:36
bedroom, which clearly seems to be the case here.
00:40:41
That just leads me to the question, though, of why?
00:40:46
OK, Seventy 75th is primarily red.
00:40:50
It's safe. Andrew Hayes was already running
00:40:54
and endorsed I I know you said by the San Diego Central
00:40:57
Committee. But wasn't he also endorsed by
00:40:59
the California GOP already? Someone knows for a fact.
00:41:03
Let me know. I thought he was.
00:41:06
So he was already. Andrew Hayes already endorsed.
00:41:08
I believe Andrew Hayes was school board like he has some
00:41:13
experience in the office. He didn't just come out of
00:41:16
nowhere so now he's like the main name for this primarily red
00:41:19
district. So.
00:41:20
So it's not like we were going to lose this seat.
00:41:24
You know it was it's pretty safe.
00:41:25
Of course there's never a guarantee I, you know we're
00:41:27
we're always one election away from losing the seat but it's
00:41:30
pretty safe. And then 76th District, where
00:41:33
Carl actually does live because I don't think that he actually
00:41:37
moved out and left his husband and, you know moved into a
00:41:41
renting a bedroom when he owns this great house. 76th District
00:41:49
is one of like, it's like the most flippable seat in
00:41:53
California. I hear that.
00:41:55
And the 40th are basically and Christopher's Lane is already
00:41:58
endorsed there. She has a great shot at winning
00:42:01
76. What was his point in doing all
00:42:05
this? To me, the whole thing is so
00:42:07
shady. It's it's like it's so wrong.
00:42:11
It's and and it's very hypocritical on on 2 levels
00:42:14
because one he has spoken out against people running against
00:42:18
the endorsed candidate and he's he's spoken out against like if
00:42:22
there. If the GOP has already endorsed
00:42:23
a candidate, then why would another Republican run against
00:42:26
that person. And he tried to recall a school
00:42:29
board member who he claimed didn't live in her district just
00:42:32
a couple years ago. He was all over Twitter about it
00:42:36
saying she's recalled she doesn't live in that district.
00:42:38
She's using a fake address. He was so against it and now he
00:42:41
is allegedly doing exactly what he claims is wrong and bad.
00:42:48
And so I just, I I have zero respect to that.
00:42:52
Like, I think it's disgusting. I can't get on board with it.
00:42:56
Yeah, I I mean, if you're if you're someone who preaches that
00:43:00
we all need to rally behind the endorsed candidates and we all
00:43:03
have to unite. This is just my own personal
00:43:07
experience and from what I've heard of other people in San
00:43:09
Diego, it's one of those things where Carl will be like, yes, we
00:43:14
all need to unite behind person X.
00:43:18
As long as I endorse person X, that's it.
00:43:20
Like you can't, you can't unite behind this other person that I
00:43:23
don't like. You have to endorse this person
00:43:25
or you get behind this person. There is a video that just came
00:43:30
out like literally three or four days ago of Carl de Mayo at an
00:43:34
event. So if we want to hear internal
00:43:37
to answer your question, why did Carl de Mayo run?
00:43:39
Do you want to hear in his own words?
00:43:41
We can watch this video. So ready for this?
00:43:45
We can hear it and it, Carl explained in his own words.
00:43:49
Why did you jump into this race? And so when, when, when the
00:44:02
Democrats attacked me in this campaign to try to boost other
00:44:07
candidates or pretenders, you have to understand they fear me
00:44:14
more than any other Republican going into that legislature.
00:44:17
As the Assembly District 75 representative, they actually
00:44:21
have said up in Sacramento, De Maio is an existential threat.
00:44:27
An existential threat. Carl de Mai is an existential
00:44:29
threat to Democrats. A super majority, by the way,
00:44:32
that you know Republicans for all, for lack of a better term,
00:44:36
yeah, it's a super majority of Democrats.
00:44:38
Don't even have to listen to Republicans in the state
00:44:40
legislature. He's an existential threat to
00:44:43
them up in Sacramento. They are shaking in their boots
00:44:49
that they just don't want Carl Demaio to be up in Sacramento.
00:44:54
You know what? They're damn right I will be a
00:44:57
threat to their progressive agenda, their left wing agenda.
00:45:01
We're going to go up there, shake up the system and drain
00:45:04
the swamp. I'm not just saying I'm gonna do
00:45:06
that. We broke the Super majority.
00:45:08
With your help in 2018 and with your help in 2024 or probably
00:45:12
2026, we will do it again. When you break that super
00:45:16
majority, we're back at the table.
00:45:17
We have leverage. And then we're gonna set our
00:45:19
sights on taking back our state with a majority.
00:45:23
It will happen. I don't want you to flee the
00:45:26
state, Which means I've got to show you incremental results as
00:45:30
soon as possible. OK.
00:45:32
For those who are are loyal listeners, if you remember what
00:45:36
did we talk about in the last call de Mayo episode in the
00:45:40
midterms, which was expected to have a red wave as opposition to
00:45:44
Joe Biden. It was supposed to be this huge
00:45:45
red wave and they were expecting they were able to get some
00:45:49
momentum going. We looked at the numbers for
00:45:52
Reform California and they ended the year with $1 on hand
00:45:57
that. Was like 6 but OK.
00:46:00
Well, I think listening to the show today was like $1
00:46:02
that they just did not spend, basically, they didn't spend
00:46:06
money in the midterms. So this this notion from Carl
00:46:11
that just because he's going to go up there, he's going to help
00:46:14
break the supermajority like you've had This pack that I'll
00:46:19
give you credit has been very, very successful in raising a
00:46:22
crap ton of money from poor retirees who have been swindled
00:46:26
by your little shindig or your little act.
00:46:29
You've had the ability with this powerful pack to flip a number
00:46:35
of seats to be super influential.
00:46:38
So where has all that money gone?
00:46:41
You've you've taken over a safe red seat, is not flipping seats
00:46:48
or chipping away at the Super maturity.
00:46:50
If you're so powerful and influential, you should have
00:46:52
used Reform California, I mean $1 and we said this on
00:46:56
the show last time, you have no idea how much a billion dollars
00:47:01
goes in these local races. You could spread that around and
00:47:05
help a lot of people and a lot of candidates get over that
00:47:07
hump, people who lost by maybe a couple 100 votes or 1000 votes
00:47:11
or something like that. So this whole idea of like,
00:47:14
well, if I if you elect me to assembly, I'm going to go break
00:47:17
up the supermajority. It's like now you, you've had
00:47:20
this ability to help try and break up the supermajority for
00:47:23
every year that you've had this Reform California pact that
00:47:26
raises millions of dollars. But you're you're not sharing
00:47:29
the wealth, you're not helping out, You're not being a A-Team
00:47:31
player. So, any thoughts before I hit
00:47:35
play again? No, go ahead.
00:47:37
OK. I need your support, and I need
00:47:41
you not to be fooled by the Sacramento swamp.
00:47:44
They're going to be sending all sorts of slick mailers down
00:47:47
here. You know who I am.
00:47:50
You know, I've been here every four to five months giving you
00:47:53
updates on the various fights that we need to wage.
00:47:56
Win, win or lose, I will always be there in the trench with you
00:48:00
to fight. So don't pay no mind to those
00:48:03
Sacramento swamps. Swamp special interests.
00:48:06
They're lying to you. They do not want a fighter in
00:48:09
the seat. They want to go along, get along
00:48:11
Republican because that's the type they like up in Sacramento
00:48:14
until they pick him off and replace him with a full-fledged
00:48:17
Democrat. Don't fall for it.
00:48:19
Let's unite. Let's take our state back.
00:48:23
Why would you enter an Assembly race that already has a
00:48:27
Republican money, especially in a conservative district for
00:48:31
which the Republican candidate is very?
00:48:33
Likely to win? That's a good question.
00:48:37
I did not have running for this seat on my bingo card.
00:48:41
I started thinking about this even possibly running for
00:48:44
anything, actually, when Rick Burnell called me in late
00:48:47
October and said there's a number of people that want to
00:48:49
sit down with you and talk about the Reform California movement.
00:48:54
Rick Grinnell, who also started the Fix California pack that
00:48:57
I've seen. Quite literally.
00:49:00
Nothing happened on his pack, so.
00:49:03
Haven't fixed California. He hasn't come close to fixing
00:49:06
California and Carl Demaio has not come close to reforming
00:49:09
California, so it makes sense that the two of them met
00:49:12
together and talked about how they can continue to not do
00:49:16
either of their stated purposes. I'm just going to throw this out
00:49:19
there. If anyone has a connection to
00:49:20
Rick Grinnell, I would love to confirm whether or not this is
00:49:23
true. Yeah, if we could confirm with
00:49:25
Rick Grinnell that he actually sat down with Carl de Mayo, that
00:49:28
would be hilarious. Put something on your schedule.
00:49:32
I said absolutely. I sat down and they said Kevin
00:49:36
McCarthy has been removed as speaker.
00:49:39
He's not going to run for re election.
00:49:41
And so in California he was always in charge of the
00:49:45
California Republican Party. McCarthy was frustrated the hell
00:49:48
out of me because all the things that we were trying to do, we'd
00:49:51
always be told no or that the state party wouldn't help us.
00:49:54
And I know where that was coming from.
00:49:59
And wait, it's. So it's.
00:50:00
It's. Go ahead.
00:50:02
Is Kevin McCarthy the reason that he had $1 cash on
00:50:05
him? Because Kevin McCarthy said no,
00:50:07
no, can't do it. Is that is that where this is
00:50:11
going? That's why he had a million dot.
00:50:14
No, I was going to share because of the beauty of doing a live
00:50:18
show with live listeners, one of our our listeners in the chat
00:50:22
said they just confirmed with Jack Fernandez that he has not
00:50:25
dropped out of the race. OK.
00:50:28
And the folks that sat down with me said there is a vacuum of
00:50:32
leadership. If not you, who?
00:50:35
If not now, when? That was late October, and I had
00:50:40
to spend a couple weeks mulling it over because I was reluctant
00:50:43
to do it over Thanksgiving, I finally said.
00:50:47
Reluctant to do it. Carl Demaio loves to insert
00:50:49
himself into anything that ingratiates himself and puts him
00:50:53
at the center of attention. Reluctant to I, He probably woke
00:50:58
up and and got giddy with the idea of running for state
00:51:01
assembly if he actually had this meeting with Rick Grinnell.
00:51:03
But. You know, I'm also tired of
00:51:05
people trying to act all humble and like, I didn't want to do
00:51:09
this. I really didn't want to run for
00:51:11
this. No, I want you to want to run
00:51:13
for this. I want to know that you want
00:51:15
this so badly that you're going to fight for us.
00:51:17
I don't want to be like, well, someone really had to pull my
00:51:19
arm and how to bribe me and how to, you know, convince me to get
00:51:22
out of bed and do this, then I don't want you there.
00:51:24
Go home. Go home.
00:51:25
You don't want it. I don't want you.
00:51:26
Go. Yeah, there's plenty of there's
00:51:29
plenty of candidates who will work their ass off to do to to
00:51:35
fill these seats and to to get elected.
00:51:36
But if you're if we're going to twist your arm, I'll twist my
00:51:40
arm and raise a couple $1 that I can shuffle
00:51:43
around in my my game of Monty. Said.
00:51:46
That's it. If I don't do this now, it was
00:51:49
because I was seeing failure after failure after failure
00:51:52
happening in Sacramento, and I saw what's going on throughout
00:51:57
the state. I heard that the local party
00:51:59
here in San Diego broke no money, didn't have money for
00:52:02
payroll. I got a call about hey, can you
00:52:04
help bail out the local party and I said got this.
00:52:11
Just conjecture here. Maybe you stop charging them for
00:52:17
capital media and all that. Maybe they won't be broke.
00:52:21
I'm just saying also if you stop, if you, if you stop
00:52:25
diverting funds like donors away from the San Diego GOP into your
00:52:29
to yourself, maybe the San Diego GOP wouldn't be broke because
00:52:33
you want to hog all the donors for yourself.
00:52:36
Just saying. So the fact that he's like, oh,
00:52:38
I have to come in and I have to come in and bail them out.
00:52:42
If I don't do this now, I'm going to be packing a U-Haul
00:52:46
truck in 10 years or or sooner, and I'm not willing to do that.
00:52:50
I've got to make this stand. I've got to sacrifice.
00:52:53
This is the worst job I've ever applied for, by the way.
00:52:56
I will happily do it as a happy warrior.
00:52:59
But let me tell you that. I think the question better is,
00:53:03
is opposed to the people who stayed in the race.
00:53:06
When I announced I was running, I got a call from Jack
00:53:09
Fernandez, who was not invited to this forum today.
00:53:13
He's also running as a Republican.
00:53:14
He said. Carl, I'm disappointed I won't
00:53:18
be the Assembly member, but you got my support.
00:53:22
I'm on the ballot, but you got my support.
00:53:24
I'm not going to run a campaign aggressively against you.
00:53:27
I said, man, I appreciate that. You should stay in the race and
00:53:30
learn and and and meet people because we need young, good
00:53:34
candidates like you in the future.
00:53:35
It was a wonderful this, this guy, I want you to learn more
00:53:39
about him. He's got a compelling story.
00:53:40
He's got, he's great. I've actually had him at my
00:53:42
campaign events the past couple weeks.
00:53:44
I bring him up on stage. I say I want y'all.
00:53:47
I would love to speak to Jack Fernandez now because I feel
00:53:53
like and this is just my opinion 100%.
00:53:56
I feel like this conversation where he's like Jack stay in the
00:54:01
race you need to the the experience whatever.
00:54:04
I feel like like Jack wasn't maybe actually going to drop out
00:54:09
and he's trying to make it sound like the reason why Jack is in
00:54:12
the race still is because he told him, you know, you should
00:54:16
stay in and get this experience. Like he's trying to make it like
00:54:19
it was his thing. Like don't drop out and and I
00:54:22
don't know, I'm just my opinion is that Jack probably wasn't
00:54:26
going to drop out. So Carl had to save face and be
00:54:28
like I told him, stay in. Well, yeah, this whole race is.
00:54:33
It kind of came as a shock to people that when he announced he
00:54:36
was running for state Assembly because we were like a lot of
00:54:38
people were like, wait a second, there's already 2 Republicans
00:54:41
running already. So why do we need a third
00:54:43
Republican running? So I just mentioned, is that why
00:54:47
Jack Fernandez got endorsed for central Committee?
00:54:49
Yeah, I don't think we'll get time to it, but there is a voter
00:54:52
guide that reformed. California and Carl, I think
00:54:56
with that spent money, not his own money, but like PAC money to
00:55:02
endorse Jack in the campaign. I'm still, yeah, I don't know if
00:55:07
like, so we'll get into that document or not.
00:55:09
I'm kind of confused about what exactly is happening in in that
00:55:12
document. But I did call someone who I
00:55:14
know is on there and had a conversation with them today.
00:55:16
I won't say who, but I know that that person did not give money.
00:55:22
This person I spoke to did not donate money to be on the voter
00:55:25
guide, but it sounds like Carl donated money in one of the like
00:55:29
with a pack for them. Like, I'm going to donate money
00:55:32
to put them on this voter guide, so.
00:55:36
Oh, look at that. See, the beauty of live
00:55:40
streaming. Jack Fernandez is actually in
00:55:43
the chat right now. Oh, whoa.
00:55:46
I didn't. I don't see a comment.
00:55:47
What? He's doing Instagram right now.
00:55:49
Over on Instagram. Hey, y'all, pleased to be
00:55:51
running hard for the 75th and looking forward to continuing to
00:55:55
speak about the things that matter.
00:55:56
Creating jobs. Encouraging business.
00:55:57
Enforcing laws, Securing the border.
00:56:00
Damn. OK, Well, that's the beauty of
00:56:02
live. You know, we're talking about
00:56:03
this right now, So it's interesting whether this was the
00:56:07
real conversation. I don't know.
00:56:08
Maybe he can. He wants to answer.
00:56:10
I feel like now we can't ask if he if he wants to answer, fine,
00:56:12
but we won't put you. On Yeah, we You don't have to
00:56:14
divulge anything, Jack, if you don't want to.
00:56:16
If you just want to stay in the race because you want to stay,
00:56:20
We don't have time to get him on right now.
00:56:22
I wish we did have time to get him on.
00:56:23
Otherwise, these Carl De Mao episodes turn into like a a
00:56:27
marathon of stuff that we have to unravel.
00:56:30
But anyway, so let's keep going. Call to meet Jack Fernandez.
00:56:36
Now don't vote for him, but this guy's got a great future.
00:56:39
I want you to learn more about him.
00:56:40
David Graeford, did I not do that three weeks ago in
00:56:42
Lakeside? There you are.
00:56:44
I do it in all my events. The question is why would
00:56:48
another Republican file for the seat and remain in the seat and
00:56:51
waste so much Republican money? I think that's a question you
00:56:54
should ask that Republican, and I will give you the example in
00:56:58
the end. Why?
00:57:00
Why would you insert yourself into a race that already had two
00:57:04
Republicans and divert funds away from those two Republicans
00:57:08
who had already been running for like, almost a year now?
00:57:11
Why would you come in and do Oh, because that's like you probably
00:57:15
want the money for yourself, but.
00:57:17
I want to say this I'm sorry. We know he can fundraise like
00:57:23
crazy. We know he can.
00:57:26
He can do so much, so much without running for any seat.
00:57:33
With his PACs. He can flip so many seats.
00:57:36
With that money that he raises, He could make, he could, he
00:57:40
could change. The supermajority like Carl de
00:57:42
Maio alone with his PAC, can 100% put in the money and the
00:57:47
time in the effort to flip those seats and get volunteers and
00:57:50
interns and door knockers and phone callers and money for
00:57:54
those seats. And literally this election
00:57:57
alone he can he can change the supermajority if he stays out of
00:58:02
the race and focuses on really using reform California to
00:58:06
reform California. He is more than capable,
00:58:08
intelligent and can raise the money and has the resources.
00:58:13
Right. That's what we keep saying is,
00:58:15
which a lot of there. There is a lot of power in being
00:58:20
in a very influential pack that can help a lot of people rather
00:58:24
than just be one person. So, yeah, I mean, the question
00:58:29
should be, you know, he's trying to say, well, why would someone
00:58:31
remain in the race? Why did you insert yourself into
00:58:34
a race that that already had two candidates and was relatively
00:58:42
safe district and it was just going to be between those two
00:58:45
candidates? Why did you insert yourself?
00:58:48
Why did you feel the need that you had?
00:58:49
Like, did you think this race was going to go sour or
00:58:52
something? Did you not like them?
00:58:55
So yeah, yeah, I'm sorry, Jack, Thanks for hopping on.
00:59:00
I wish we could, but we are running low on time.
00:59:04
But if you have anything to say, just throw it in the chat.
00:59:06
I'm keeping an eye on the chat for you as we continue to finish
00:59:09
out this video. Donald Trump, when he announced
00:59:14
that he was running for the presidential nomination, he was
00:59:19
absolutely going to be our nominee From the second he
00:59:21
decided he wanted to be our nominee.
00:59:24
There was no question in my mind he had my support right out of
00:59:27
the gate. I'm sure most of your minds he
00:59:29
had your support as well, so. What fun fact.
00:59:33
Carl Demaio, a long time ago, was not a Trump supporter.
00:59:38
Right out of the gate. You know, a long time ago when
00:59:41
he first ran in 2016, he was not a Trump supporter.
00:59:44
He was a big, I think he was a Ted Cruz guy.
00:59:46
So he hated Trump back in the beginning.
00:59:49
Why in the hell with the Republican Party?
00:59:53
Donors waste $300 million on all the gaggle of pretenders that
01:00:00
ran against them. Do you know how much $300
01:00:02
million of money could do to flip congressional seats?
01:00:06
Senate seats? Assembly seats, that is.
01:00:09
That's a pot of gold that we do not have in the Republican
01:00:12
Party. Do you not know how much
01:00:15
$1 would flip in California, in local seats, in
01:00:21
state assembly, in state Senate, in City Council and county
01:00:24
supervisor? And you sat on it and you didn't
01:00:26
do anything with it. So stop lecturing everybody else
01:00:30
about, oh, why are they wasting money?
01:00:32
Just this is like ultimate projection here by Carl Tamayo.
01:00:37
Why? Why aren't you spending that
01:00:39
money? Why aren't you helping so many
01:00:40
other seats that were close that people could win?
01:00:43
Yeah. I've looked at Nikki Haley's
01:00:51
disclosure. Some of that money's from
01:00:52
Democrats, so ha ha. But a lot of that money though,
01:00:56
came from Republican donors who were duped.
01:01:00
So I asked that Republican candidate, why are you duping so
01:01:05
many donors are wasting so much money?
01:01:07
It's. And if anyone knows about duping
01:01:10
Republican voters, it'd be Carl Demio.
01:01:16
Retired. Not necessary.
01:01:18
What's that? The retired ones.
01:01:20
Retired Republican voters, It's definitely Carl Demio.
01:01:22
If anyone can recognize what it takes to dupe Republican voters,
01:01:27
Carl Demio would be it. We do not have resources in
01:01:30
California. We need every penny, every
01:01:33
moment. And so I believe that this
01:01:35
election is going to turn out very similar in the Southern
01:01:38
District, the way that the nomination for president turned
01:01:40
out. I believe that these voters in
01:01:42
the 75th District, they know me. They know that I'm a fighter.
01:01:46
They know that no matter what lies, the corrupt Sacramento
01:01:49
swamp tells that I will stand up and speak truth to power.
01:01:55
I will always fight for you and have your back.
01:01:58
I will always lead the fight in California to reform this state.
01:02:02
The voters know that. They're not going to be duped.
01:02:05
Sadly, though, those resources that should be going to other
01:02:09
seats are being wasted here. Now, the beautiful thing, like
01:02:12
with Nikki Haley, my opponent's going to be funded by a lot of
01:02:16
Democrat groups and labor union bosses.
01:02:19
So that money, I was actually talking to a target seat
01:02:23
Republican, he said. Boy, I'm happy you're running.
01:02:25
I'm like, well, why? He said.
01:02:26
The Democrats and the labor unions are going to tear some
01:02:29
money away from me and spend money to promote your opponent.
01:02:33
I said, well, you know what? If it takes a little heat off
01:02:34
your back, that's all along Good.
01:02:36
I'm just telling you all this because you understand we have a
01:02:40
uniparty the Sacramento swamp is going to try to manipulate in
01:02:45
this race. Don't let them trust your gut.
01:02:52
Demand better. And so my question would be, why
01:02:56
in the hell would a 5% candidate stay in the race and waste so
01:03:01
much of our money? Thank you.
01:03:06
It's infuriating. Yeah.
01:03:10
Ultimate projection right there by Carl Demaio.
01:03:13
Yeah. Why would you insert yourself
01:03:16
into this race? Why did you sit on $1
01:03:19
during a midterm election that was supposed to be a red wave
01:03:21
when there was supposed to be Republican support?
01:03:23
We could have flipped, I don't know, even two or three seats in
01:03:26
the Assembly or the Senate. That would have been helpful.
01:03:30
So those are all questions that maybe Carl should be asked of
01:03:34
those. So yeah, we we are kind of
01:03:37
running over the hour right now. I don't want to make this too
01:03:39
long, but again, there's so much to cover we still.
01:03:42
Didn't get into the FEC reports. We didn't get into that.
01:03:45
There's there's always so, so much to cover.
01:03:49
I'd I I'd like to do a little follow up in terms of Andrew
01:03:53
Hayes and like I is he being funded by Democrats.
01:03:56
If we find that information, we'll post it on Instagram and
01:03:59
Twitter and all that stuff. I don't think he is.
01:04:03
If anyone in the chat knows or wants to chime in, go right
01:04:06
ahead. But yeah, it's it's one of those
01:04:08
things and it it's a big question mark.
01:04:12
Why did he jump in this race? I mean, we know why he jumped in
01:04:15
this or my belief why he jumped in this race is because he saw
01:04:17
an opportunity to do this latest thing where he can raise money
01:04:23
and he can promote his name and and you know, all this just
01:04:26
comes back around. He saw the opportunity he had
01:04:28
with City Council. He turned it into some political
01:04:31
status power. He's now consolidated that into
01:04:35
Reform California. He has the Transparency Project
01:04:39
and Capital Media, which technically he doesn't have
01:04:41
anything to do with, but they're very intertwined and now State
01:04:46
Assembly is just the next thing. It's just the next thing that he
01:04:49
can run and promote his name and all that.
01:04:52
So in the end, moral, The story for me is keep an eye on all
01:04:59
these candidates in California. You know, just because they wear
01:05:03
red or blue doesn't mean they're automatically on your team or
01:05:06
have your best interests at heart.
01:05:09
And it's up to us. And especially in this election
01:05:12
year, I feel like we're going to do a lot of these episodes.
01:05:14
We're going to go over all this stuff again.
01:05:16
Maybe we should do another episode where we can actually,
01:05:18
like, show people that might be a good episode to just do like,
01:05:22
hey, this is how you do this stuff and go look for it.
01:05:25
So that way people can go do this information on their own or
01:05:30
look for this information on their own.
01:05:32
But the moral of the story is, do your due diligence.
01:05:35
It's not that hard. You can find all this stuff.
01:05:39
Any final thoughts for you, Camille?
01:05:44
So do we actually care if Democrats are funding Andrew
01:05:51
Hayes? Now hold on before you answer.
01:05:56
Even Democrats in California are fed up with Democrats in
01:05:58
California. Not all, but we we've come to.
01:06:02
I mean last week you talked about a poll about, you know the
01:06:05
like the wasn't the Berkeley, UC Berkeley poll or something like
01:06:09
that where? Yeah, 57% of California people,
01:06:12
people polled, 57% said the state.
01:06:14
This is a big issue, the budget deficit.
01:06:16
Yeah. So, but when we talk about you
01:06:21
and I talk a lot about, you know, there are some districts,
01:06:23
people do live in districts where their their only options
01:06:26
are going to be a couple Democrats.
01:06:29
And so you talk about don't not vote if one is more moderate,
01:06:34
vote for that one. And so it's possible there's
01:06:37
Democrats in that district who are like, you know what, this is
01:06:42
a a red district. And I feel like Andrew Hayes is
01:06:45
is the one that I want running. I mean, 'cause it's it's still
01:06:48
their Assembly person, you know, it's they're still their
01:06:51
representative, they're going to vote.
01:06:54
And so there's So I was saying, do we really Care now?
01:06:59
Of course, if we're finding out that he's bought and then he's
01:07:02
going to go vote for their special interests and stuff,
01:07:05
that that's a concern. Absolutely.
01:07:08
But I just sometimes we got to calm down about this stuff.
01:07:15
Do you know if I I live in a very red district, but if I were
01:07:18
maybe in, I'm in Orange County and maybe if I lived in LA and I
01:07:22
know that like my, you know, my sheriff is going to be more
01:07:26
Democrat or my, you know, whatever, I I'm still going to
01:07:29
vote and I'm still going to try to get the more moderate one in.
01:07:33
Yeah, yeah. I mean, in California, sadly,
01:07:36
you do have to play that game a little bit.
01:07:38
Like it was, what was it? The sheriff of LA County
01:07:42
Villanueva, who was against a lot of the COVID lockdown stuff,
01:07:48
He was, again, he wasn't going to enforce a lot of it and he
01:07:50
became like Public Enemy #1 because he wasn't going to
01:07:53
enforce any of it. So they went out and found.
01:07:57
I. I I think it was, yeah, somebody
01:08:00
else who was the police chief of LA City who was way left of
01:08:04
Illinova. And it was one of those things
01:08:06
where it was like Democrat versus Democrat.
01:08:08
So it's like, yeah, well, you know, kind of got to go with the
01:08:10
Villanueva, even though it's a Democrat, because he's been
01:08:13
really good on the COVID stuff over here is like really bad on
01:08:17
a lot of this stuff. So but it it is the the point of
01:08:23
this is, is that in California, like I said at the top of the
01:08:27
show, there's a lot of people who are looking for someone to
01:08:33
to help us, someone to lead us out of this, this, this
01:08:36
wilderness that's here in California.
01:08:39
And just be careful. Someone gains.
01:08:41
Popularity makes a lot of money. We've seen it before.
01:08:44
We've seen it since 2016. Just be careful researching
01:08:49
them. Look into them.
01:08:50
See where the money is coming from.
01:08:52
See what they're spending money on, see what their goals are.
01:08:54
Have they accomplished stuff like, you can see that stuff.
01:08:58
You can literally look it up. Like we've had great Assembly
01:09:01
members and senators on this who've actually done work.
01:09:03
They've put in bills, they've gotten stuff done.
01:09:06
Actions speak louder than words. And sometimes there's people in
01:09:09
the political arena who they're all talk and nothing happens.
01:09:13
You know, I can't name one thing that reformed California has
01:09:16
actually accomplished other than ride on the coattails of other
01:09:19
people's work and make money off of it.
01:09:22
I guess they're one accomplishment is that they make
01:09:24
a crap ton of money Anyway. No, that was a good episode.
01:09:31
And again, we almost ran almost the same time as the last
01:09:34
episode. It's.
01:09:35
Kind of fun that we had people that we were talking about in
01:09:37
the urge to answer questions. Yeah, and it's great because
01:09:40
there's like. Talking to Jack further, I don't
01:09:42
know if Jack wants to talk to us or if you do, but I'm interested
01:09:44
in talking to Jack further. Yeah, we maybe offline we'll
01:09:47
we'll we'll chat with Jack and get more of, yeah we're open to
01:09:50
it man. I'm sorry it's just because of
01:09:51
the time and everything we couldn't like bring everybody
01:09:54
on, but it was great we had all these different live streams
01:09:57
going tonight. We love when people are are
01:09:59
engaged and having questions and comments and stuff like that.
01:10:02
So on that note, make sure to like, share, subscribe, review,
01:10:09
all that stuff. It helps us with the algorithm,
01:10:10
helps people find us. We're also on audio with
01:10:13
Spotify. Make sure you go over there,
01:10:15
follow, hit the notification bell so you get notified every
01:10:18
time there's an audio podcast. And make sure you leave a little
01:10:20
review, too. That helps too, over on Spotify.
01:10:24
And the best thing you can do to help this show and to support
01:10:27
this show is to share it with somebody else.
01:10:31
It's free, it doesn't cost you anything, and it helps support
01:10:33
people. So especially in an election
01:10:34
year, we're going to have a lot to talk about Next week.
01:10:38
We have Denise on who is running for Assembly.
01:10:41
She'll be on Tuesday. So we're excited to have her on
