Every Wednesday morning at 9am on Instagram, I go live and discuss California Politics over coffee.
On this episode I the scandal around the racist remarks made by LA City Council members, and we discuss an article in American Greatness that basically asks for blind loyalty to the Republican Party when voting so that you don't "split the vote."
*The California Underground Podcast is dedicated to discussing California politics for people who want to cut through the insanity and get real answers.*

00:00:06
If you're a California, conservative a Libertarian, a
00:00:09
moderate Democrat. Believe in common sense or just
00:00:12
the same person. This is the political podcast
00:00:14
for you. It's the California underground
00:00:17
podcast. What's going on?
00:00:21
Good morning everybody. Thanks for tuning in to another
00:00:23
episode of coffee and California politics.
00:00:27
Today is gonna be a little bit weird but like a mish-mosh.
00:00:29
Oh, we're gonna talk about some new stuff.
00:00:31
What's going on? Also, this article that I was
00:00:35
reading American greatness and I'm just going to give you a
00:00:39
free warning for people. If you haven't tuned in to the
00:00:43
show or you haven't been following that long, I'm just
00:00:45
going to preface this by saying. If you know me, I know, you know
00:00:49
that I call out the Republican Party a lot mostly because I
00:00:55
believe there is plenty of room for improvement and that's
00:00:59
really what frustrates me is that.
00:01:00
There is a lot of room for improvement.
00:01:03
I am not by any means a blind loyalists.
00:01:06
I'm not someone who is going to just vote red, no matter what,
00:01:12
you know, I'm not one of those people.
00:01:14
I've always told all of my listeners and all my fault.
00:01:17
Course, you should always do your own research.
00:01:19
It just so happens that a lot of the stuff that I like or that, I
00:01:23
support the policies that export happened to end up in the
00:01:26
Republican party. So I do end up supporting a lot
00:01:28
of Republicans. That doesn't mean I am a blind
00:01:30
Loyola, so doesn't mean I'm just going to go, oh, you're a
00:01:33
republican. Okay, so we're going to go over
00:01:36
an article today in American greatness where they, that's
00:01:41
what they're asking. They're asking you to just
00:01:42
basically be a blind loyalists to the Republican Party.
00:01:47
And I don't agree with it. I think it's really kind of
00:01:50
weird how they wrote it but we're gonna get into that in a
00:01:53
little bit. We're going to talk a little bit
00:01:55
about the LA City Council. What is going on right now?
00:01:59
Funny enough as it always turns out Democrats, who always say
00:02:02
everyone else is a racist and they call you a racist.
00:02:05
Just based on the fact that you are Republican or that you don't
00:02:07
agree with them or you're not a Democrat turns out, three of the
00:02:11
LA City Council Council, people actually are racist.
00:02:14
So now it's gotten all the way up to Former Vice President, Joe
00:02:18
Biden is now through his press secretary, Kareem Jean, Pierre
00:02:24
has said that it's time for them to resign and then that's
00:02:29
basically what we're going to talk about today.
00:02:31
So in some announcements October 29th, I'm very excited to be a
00:02:35
part of this event with Anthony cabassa.
00:02:37
It's the freedom or Revival event, we're going to be doing
00:02:39
it here in the Waterfront Park in San Diego, you can check
00:02:43
Freedom Revival, they're putting up a whole bunch of stuff about
00:02:46
it. I'm Very honored to be part of
00:02:49
the team, Amy and Anthony are going to be interviewing.
00:02:51
All of the candidates, they're supposed to be an enormous
00:02:54
turnout of people. So I'm very excited about that.
00:02:57
I'm going to be posting more. If you want to learn more about,
00:02:59
you can go to Freedom Revival events and they're going to,
00:03:02
they have all the stuff over there.
00:03:04
It's going to be a great event. I'm very excited about it.
00:03:06
And again, I'm very honored to be asked to be a part of it and
00:03:10
interview, a lot of the candidates people like Lonnie
00:03:14
Chan. I believe.
00:03:14
They were Brian Dolly are going to be there a lot, big
00:03:16
Statewide. Are going to be there so where
00:03:19
it's going to be a big event. It's not going to be some
00:03:21
rinky-dink little event. There's going to be some big
00:03:23
names. So thank you Camille.
00:03:26
Yeah go Freedom revile events check that out tomorrow night
00:03:31
Cynthia and I are going to be breaking down to more
00:03:33
propositions for you prop 1 and prop 30.
00:03:37
I think there's enough to talk about what the two of those prop
00:03:40
one is regarding the Constitutional Amendment
00:03:45
basically legalizing abortion all the way up through.
00:03:47
Through delivery. So we're going to talk about
00:03:50
that and then when prop 30 is the one talking about, what's
00:03:54
the one, that's the one where they want to tax people, over
00:03:57
two million dollars to help pay for electric, cars and electric
00:03:59
infrastructure, stuff like that, and ironically it or not.
00:04:03
Ironically, it's funny enough, that noodles doesn't even
00:04:05
support it. He's come out against it, which
00:04:08
is odd that he's come out against the taxable.
00:04:10
Talk about why he has kind of come out against this.
00:04:12
It's not necessarily because he's against taxes, it's it's
00:04:17
again. Just let me say it's against how
00:04:20
it's being done. I guess lift is behind it.
00:04:22
They're going to get a big benefit.
00:04:24
So we said, hey what are your thoughts on?
00:04:25
Dave Smith's endorsement of Blake Masters.
00:04:27
I hadn't seen it is. Blake Masters, who is Blake
00:04:31
Masters is he the Republican running for Senate over in
00:04:35
Arizona if any boy obviously pays attention I do talk about
00:04:40
Dave Smith a lot. So yeah, if Dave Smith the
00:04:44
libertarian endorse them I'd be interested to learn more about
00:04:47
that. That I didn't know he had
00:04:48
endorsed him or that he said anything about if you correct me
00:04:50
if I'm wrong I think Blake Masters is the Republican
00:04:53
running. So that's a big deal if a one of
00:04:56
the most prominent voices I would say the most prominent
00:04:59
voice in the libertarian party. Dave Smith came out and endorsed
00:05:03
Blake Masters. That's a pretty big deal and
00:05:05
we're going to talk about that today.
00:05:06
Sort of the issue of Libertarians and where do they
00:05:10
lie and do they end up hurting Republicans?
00:05:13
Or do they end up hurting Democrats when they run?
00:05:15
And that's we're going to talk about in this article.
00:05:18
But we want to get to plenty of time for you guys to talk and
00:05:22
chat because that's the point of coffee in California politics.
00:05:27
That's been more on a reason why I listen to everyone.
00:05:30
So I haven't checked out all of them.
00:05:32
So, Today's roast is still Blackbeard's Delight from Black
00:05:38
Rifle coffee. I'm not sponsored by Black Rifle
00:05:40
coffee, but if they want to sponsor, I'd be more than happy
00:05:43
to. So, let's talk about this first
00:05:45
story and then we're gonna get into the big article that I
00:05:47
really want to dive into not necessarily California politics.
00:05:50
But I really do want to talk about because there is an issue
00:05:53
with sort of blind loyalty when it comes to the Republican
00:05:56
Party, especially here in California.
00:05:58
I think there is an issue of blind loyalty and why especially
00:06:01
in California with California GOP?
00:06:04
We should Doing a lot better. So this is an article President
00:06:08
Biden calls for resignation of La council members following
00:06:11
races audio recording during a press conference on Tuesday,
00:06:14
President. Joe Biden calls for the
00:06:15
resignation of Los Angeles City, Council Members nury Martinez.
00:06:18
Kevin De Leon and Gil cedillo as the LA racist recording.
00:06:23
Kind of Scandal continues to grow the audio recording which
00:06:26
then city council Nora Martinez who just recently stepped down
00:06:29
as president city, councilman Kevin De Lyon and Gil cedillo
00:06:33
and Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, president
00:06:36
Ron, Herrera are all talking about redistricting who should
00:06:39
replace a city council member and other topics.
00:06:41
However, strong racial comments, especially by Martinez and de
00:06:44
Lyon kept arising during the audio including Martinez calling
00:06:47
the young black child of fellow councilman Mike.
00:06:49
Bonin a monkey. Well, she said it in Spanish,
00:06:53
but it came out as monkey released on Sunday, the news of
00:06:56
the recording spread fast and went from local to national news
00:06:59
with an H quote, this has been one of the most difficult times
00:07:03
in my life and I recognize this Entirely my own making said
00:07:06
Martinez, an estate statement on Tuesday.
00:07:09
At this moment, I need to take a leave of absence and take some
00:07:11
time to have an honest, and heartfelt conversation with my
00:07:14
family. My constituents and Community
00:07:16
leaders. I am so sorry to the residents
00:07:18
of council District, Six, my colleagues and the city of Los
00:07:21
Angeles. So she's taken a leave of
00:07:24
absence. She has not resigned.
00:07:26
She stepped down as president, which a lot of people were
00:07:29
saying was not good enough. That you step down as president,
00:07:33
but you're still city council members.
00:07:34
So you still get all the benefits of being a city council
00:07:36
member, you're just not present anymore.
00:07:40
But the bigger story that a lot of people, I'm sure have picked
00:07:43
up on, is you've set the rules and you've set these standards
00:07:47
and this is exactly what it is. Is, if you say something racist,
00:07:51
if you condone something racist, if you're in the room and
00:07:55
something racist happens, and you don't immediately jump up
00:07:57
and say like, stop, this is racist Behavior.
00:07:59
I won't stand for it, then you obviously are going to get
00:08:03
cancelled. I For example, one of my guilty
00:08:07
pleasures, is the bachelor and Chris Harrison got kicked off of
00:08:12
a show that he had been on for 20 years, because he simply said
00:08:18
that the girl was who was pictured in a Southern
00:08:22
plantation ball or something. It's something I had to do a
00:08:27
college was like a tradition, it goes all the way back simply
00:08:30
because he said, maybe we should give her a chance to explain.
00:08:34
Herself that got him fired from a job that he had held down
00:08:40
regularly for over 20 years. So it just shows you that this
00:08:46
is the standard. So even if you say, hey, hold on
00:08:48
a sec. Let's play maybe, maybe we
00:08:53
should just take a minute and figure this out.
00:08:56
That will get you canceled. So enough that if you've been
00:09:01
caught on tape, obviously you should be cancelled and be able
00:09:04
to Kevin The own who didn't really jump up and say anything
00:09:07
should be canceled and they should be rude.
00:09:08
That's the standard you've set. Now, of course, the higher-ups
00:09:12
are falling in line, the higher-ups are pushing a lot of
00:09:15
pressure on to the city council and Eric Garcetti, no one really
00:09:21
cares about you. If you want to talk about
00:09:23
someone who flout his own rules and doesn't lose by, he knows
00:09:26
his own standards. Eric Garcetti, you know, we all
00:09:29
know mask a over at the Super Bowl with its Super Bowl in the
00:09:33
Super Bowl or the the Pionship game in La, we all know that
00:09:37
he's not that big on his own standards.
00:09:40
He said that he wants them to step down and he said I'll swim
00:09:43
my remaining days at City Hall. Moving kindness, transparency
00:09:46
and respect as core values of our city.
00:09:48
This is the time to not only stand up to things.
00:09:50
We are against but to do the hard work of bringing about the
00:09:53
things we are for sadly. He's probably spending the last
00:09:58
couple days thinking about how he did not get that Ambassador
00:10:00
shipped Andy like he was expecting however the largest
00:10:04
named And in the resignation joined in, on Tuesday afternoon,
00:10:08
President Joe Biden, in a rare move to call for the resignation
00:10:11
of officials at the local level Biden through White House,
00:10:14
bracket press secretary Korean Jean-Pierre firmly.
00:10:19
Put the highest office in the nation against the three council
00:10:22
members, the president's, glad to see that one of the
00:10:24
participants in the conversation has resigned but he believes
00:10:28
they should all resign. Noah jump here in a press
00:10:30
briefing. The language that was used in
00:10:32
tolerate during the conversation was unacceptable and Pauline, he
00:10:34
believes they should all step down the New Hope.
00:10:37
High-profile lawmakers asking for the resignation has led to
00:10:40
many believe, resignation is no longer a matter of if but when
00:10:45
so obviously you can't continue on their all three of them are
00:10:49
likely going to resign at some point and they're going to be
00:10:52
held to the same standard. So, That's how it should they
00:10:57
created the rules. If Democrats want to create the
00:10:59
rules and they want to create these standards, guess what?
00:11:02
And you have to play by your own standards and obviously what
00:11:04
Nora Martinez said and what all of them say was disgusting, but
00:11:08
sorry you said you set the stage and that's it.
00:11:10
You should be removed from office.
00:11:12
You should resign. So with that sorry said, it's
00:11:15
just it's always interesting and I think a lot of people on the
00:11:17
right are probably saying that. It's funny hearing Democrats who
00:11:20
are always about anti-racism and all of these Issues around race
00:11:27
and then all of a sudden behind closed doors, they are a whole
00:11:30
different set of people and that they talked a whole different
00:11:32
way. So Keep following that story.
00:11:35
I assume they'll probably. I pretty much assume that
00:11:38
they're going to resign, at some point.
00:11:40
They can't hide behind closed doors.
00:11:42
They hit their face. A whole bunch of protesters most
00:11:45
recently. So, let's talk about this
00:11:47
article. That way, I can get a lot of
00:11:50
your points and what you guys think about this?
00:11:52
Because I want to hear your points about this and you can
00:11:54
say whether I'm right, whether I'm wrong, but I think this is,
00:11:59
this is one to chew on the title of the article and this is from
00:12:04
Can greatness will libertarian candidates again deny GOP.
00:12:08
The US Senate? It's not necessarily I that's
00:12:12
what I want to focus on. I wanna focus on the language
00:12:14
and the logic that this author uses.
00:12:17
The author uses this logic that to me is just abysmal.
00:12:23
That's the best way to put it. It's really, really bad logic.
00:12:26
In terms of how you're trying to make your argument, you he
00:12:29
doesn't really make an argument outside of well, this Is the way
00:12:34
things are. And therefore, you should just
00:12:36
vote Republican. So it's gonna be a lot of
00:12:39
reading, but I want to jump in and talk about stuff, the
00:12:42
political political reality in America.
00:12:44
Is that of a two-party system? Embracing.
00:12:48
This reality means, if you want to change the political
00:12:50
direction of the nation, you have to transform one of the
00:12:53
major parties. I agree with that, I would agree
00:12:56
with that. I think there's plenty of
00:12:58
chances to reform the major parties and there's number of
00:13:01
ways you can do that. There's number of ways you can,
00:13:04
Involved in your central committee meetings there's ways
00:13:06
you can get involved as delegates into your your
00:13:09
preferred party. You can get involved in your
00:13:12
party and change it and this is one thing that I always have
00:13:16
applauded. The Libertarians for is what
00:13:19
they did with the mises caucus and how they changed the party.
00:13:22
They saw that their party was going in a completely offshoot
00:13:25
direction that had nothing to do with Liberty anymore.
00:13:27
When you have Joe jorgeson, who was the libertarian candidate in
00:13:30
2020 saying, it's not enough to be rich.
00:13:34
This, what we must be actively anti-racist or something to that
00:13:38
effect. They went ahead and did it.
00:13:42
They said, look, we're going to change our party.
00:13:44
I think the problem is that there's a lot of in it's a
00:13:46
little bit harder and Republican Democrat Party has a lot of
00:13:48
power and a lot of money but I would agree with that.
00:13:52
You can change your to parties. And so his his opening statement
00:13:56
is that, if you want to do something, you have to change
00:14:00
one of the two parties denying this Reality by As a third-party
00:14:05
candidate can also transform the political direction of the
00:14:07
nation but it's unlikely to change in the direction.
00:14:10
The third-party candidate wants to go.
00:14:12
Third party can it's rarely win elections but they're very good
00:14:15
at splitting. The vote You hear that line?
00:14:19
A lot here, that line, a lot of people who say, well, don't vote
00:14:22
for X, because it will split the vote if which does happen in
00:14:27
some, which does happen in some instances, there are people who
00:14:31
do funnel votes away but that's his really, his own argument is
00:14:35
that it does split the votes and therefore, because of that, You
00:14:39
should not really pay attention to third-party candidates or
00:14:42
third parties at all. Like here are your two choices.
00:14:44
Don't listen don't listen to these parties over here, trying
00:14:47
to bring stuff up and trying to bring up issues.
00:14:51
Just look at these two parties and you have to take one area
00:14:54
other, you have to choose the two lesser of two evils.
00:14:57
You know, you have to choose between a crap sandwich and a
00:15:00
turd burger. That's really your choices and
00:15:03
and that's it. If you want to change them and
00:15:04
you wanted that's up to you, you got to do the work.
00:15:06
But right now, these are the two choices and you got to go with
00:15:08
it. This is only in the context of
00:15:11
which the national libertarian party, the party of principle is
00:15:15
relevant in America. Today, this party, with its
00:15:18
principled candidates Above All Else, believes in limited
00:15:21
government. It's a good start, I believe in
00:15:25
limited government, you would think that Republicans also
00:15:28
believe in limited government correct, which is to say they
00:15:32
oppose socialism and voila. When you split the
00:15:34
anti-socialist vote the Socialist, when's it shouldn't
00:15:38
be necessary to defend Republicans.
00:15:39
Is Democrats right now. The fact that Republicans are
00:15:42
not democrats should be enough. That right there is probably one
00:15:50
of the worst lines that I read in this whole thing.
00:15:53
It should be necessary to find Republicans versus Democrats
00:15:56
right now. The fact that Republicans are
00:15:58
not democrats, should be enough. They should be enough.
00:16:03
That's it. Basically, the you right there
00:16:08
is basically the entire platform of the California GOP, we're not
00:16:12
Democrats so vote for us because we're not Democrats.
00:16:20
Does that sound like a compelling platform?
00:16:22
A compelling political platform that you can jump on it.
00:16:26
You can get behind and say look I want a vote for this party
00:16:30
because they're not Democrats. What else do I stand for?
00:16:36
I don't know. Do they stand for the nuclear
00:16:40
family? Maybe do they stand for limited
00:16:44
government? I don't know.
00:16:46
Could be, do they stand for? Do they stand for reducing the
00:16:51
spending and cutting back agencies?
00:16:55
Maybe but they're not Democrats. Remember that's the biggest
00:16:59
thing as long as they're not Democrats, that's all that
00:17:02
matters. Even if I Republicans are just
00:17:07
rhinos, there's that word again we all love that word, rhinos,
00:17:11
they generally vote with their party on the major issues and in
00:17:13
any case, when Republicans control the senate or house,
00:17:15
they have control over the budget, the court appointees and
00:17:18
the investigations over all Republicans tend to approve less
00:17:21
damaging legislation than Democrats.
00:17:26
Hm. Less damaging legislation than
00:17:30
Democrats meaning. So they support or they pass
00:17:36
damaging legislation. It's not that bad, it's not
00:17:39
really that bad man. Is that it's not really that
00:17:41
bad. I don't know why you guys are
00:17:43
really getting kind of like all like why are you getting all
00:17:46
upset because it's less damaging than whatever the Democrats are
00:17:49
doing. So you should take that just
00:17:51
take that and this whole idea that rhinos, they But with the
00:17:57
party on major issues and case we have seen that since the kind
00:18:02
of split between the establishment GOP and the Maga
00:18:06
party, that's not necessarily always true anymore, right?
00:18:10
It's now become if your maggot, your one type of Republican and
00:18:14
if you're an establishment, you're a whole different type of
00:18:17
Republican. If you're a Mitt Romney, if
00:18:19
you're a Liz Cheney, if you're Adam kinzinger, you have these
00:18:23
Republicans who are going to gum up the works and they're not
00:18:26
going to vote for stuff, right? Right.
00:18:27
Like they're, you know, Susan Collins is another one Lisa
00:18:30
murkowski. You think of all these
00:18:32
Republicans who are rhinos, they're not Deadlocks.
00:18:35
For all of this legislation. They don't always vote with the
00:18:38
party. And if the party is changing to
00:18:41
a more of a populist, conservative sort of viewpoint,
00:18:45
these rhinos and these established Republicans don't
00:18:48
always vote the way you want them to.
00:18:50
So this idea of what we've, we just vote all in Republicans
00:18:52
will be a lot better or it will be less damaging than Democrats
00:18:56
again. What put that on a bumper
00:18:59
sticker vote, Republican less, damaging than Democrats.
00:19:04
We're still going to screw you but we're going to screw you a
00:19:06
little lesson. It's going to be a little nicer
00:19:09
guys. Really winning me over here with
00:19:11
these excellent. Excellent points of why I should
00:19:14
vote for Republican just because just vote Republican.
00:19:18
This is reality. This is politics in America.
00:19:22
Consider the Republican Leaders with national stature today.
00:19:24
Then compare them to democratic Leaders with comparable
00:19:27
visibility and influence. Maybe some of these Republicans
00:19:30
are rough around the edges or don't agree with you or with
00:19:34
each other on every issue. So what which gang do you want
00:19:39
running the country? If you're a populist,
00:19:40
conservative, conservative, or even if your libertarian, the
00:19:44
choice should be easy, right? I mean, it's kind of like the
00:19:51
saying that Republicans are just Democrats driving the speed
00:19:59
limit. Meaning we're all headed towards
00:20:04
hell in a handbasket, but Republicans just do it a little
00:20:07
slower that they kind of just put the brakes on while
00:20:11
Democrats thrust us towards a larger etheric authoritarian
00:20:16
government, more government control Roll higher taxes, all
00:20:19
of this stuff and Republicans are basically just like, well,
00:20:25
no, no, we're well, we'll get there and do it slowly so that
00:20:28
our voters, think we're really stopping anything, and I think
00:20:33
that frustrates a lot of people. Right.
00:20:35
I think that frustrates a lot of people because they feel like
00:20:39
they're not getting the represent representation that
00:20:42
they really want. And that Republicans really
00:20:44
aren't standing for anything more than Democrat light.
00:20:47
And that's really where, Republican party is now, and
00:20:49
that's probably why Trump. And the Maga movement inspired
00:20:52
so much passion is because you had this candidate who came out
00:20:56
and came out bold on a lot of things and it pissed off.
00:21:00
A lot of people who were never going to vote for a Donald Trump
00:21:02
ever in their lives, but it did get a lot of people on board to
00:21:08
say, hey, you know what, this guy's talking about, building a
00:21:11
wall, and he's talking about being tough on China when it
00:21:13
comes to trading stalking about bringing manufacturing jobs back
00:21:17
though. Those are things you actually
00:21:19
can campaign on that. People are attracted to because
00:21:23
their Solutions, because it's a different platform if Democrats
00:21:28
come out and say, well, we want to tax all of our Millionaires
00:21:32
and billionaires at 90% of the top marginal rate, it's more
00:21:35
likely than that, Republicans will come out and say no.
00:21:37
Actually my tax proposal is that they'll be taxed at 70%.
00:21:44
Right, hang on. Okay, that's there's a lot
00:21:46
better right? Instead of them saying, well we
00:21:48
should expand the Department of Education, like Democrats would
00:21:51
say what Republicans might come out and say is well I think
00:21:56
maybe we should just kind of Reform it around the edges as
00:21:59
opposed to abolish it. You know these are these are
00:22:02
things that like Libertarians are saying which is abolish.
00:22:04
These agencies, abolish the Federal Reserve, these are big
00:22:08
idea platforms that people look at and go.
00:22:11
Okay. That's And I can get behind, but
00:22:17
the idea is that you should just vote Republican because
00:22:20
strategically it will work out in the end.
00:22:24
How much has that worked out for us?
00:22:26
Electing, establishment, Republicans over and over and
00:22:29
over and over again, not very well, we can, we continue to
00:22:33
march to a bigger budget, bigger deficit, bigger debt, so, What
00:22:41
are we really doing? Here are the GOP really doing
00:22:45
anything to stop? What the Democrats are doing?
00:22:48
Not necessarily but this guy saying, well, just because
00:22:51
they're less damaging, we should vote for them.
00:22:55
Not really that. Great of an argument in 2016
00:22:58
election, the Libertarian presidential candidate.
00:23:00
Gary, Johnson attracted just over 4.5 million votes.
00:23:05
They always love to use this stat.
00:23:08
It Gary Johnson took over 4.5 million votes, 2016 was a very
00:23:14
polarizing election between two very polarizing, candidates,
00:23:18
Trump and Hillary Clinton. Those are two people that you
00:23:21
may have love Trump or thought he was great.
00:23:25
There's a good portion of people who didn't like Trump, and they
00:23:27
also didn't like Hillary Clinton and their law.
00:23:29
People who just didn't vote for anybody.
00:23:32
They just kind of sat it out and they said, well, I'm just not
00:23:36
gonna I'm not gonna vote, then there's some people who said,
00:23:39
well, I'm gonna vote for Gary Johnson, just because I want to
00:23:41
make a statement. I know a lot of people here in
00:23:43
California, who said, I'm going to vote for Gary Johnson, just
00:23:46
to make a statement because in the end, my votes, not really
00:23:49
going to matter in the presidential election.
00:23:51
But if I can run up the, the votes for the libertarian.
00:23:54
Why? The left is equivalent, Green
00:23:58
Party candidate Jill, Stein received only 1.5 million votes
00:24:01
despite being a deeply flawed candidate.
00:24:03
Gary Johnson, moved the national popular vote from a toss up to a
00:24:07
clear, Clinton Edge in the Electoral College.
00:24:09
Johnson's influence, was even greater.
00:24:11
Now, I'll argue that 4.5 million votes across the entire nation.
00:24:16
Doesn't necessarily sway. The popular vote as much.
00:24:20
Democrats are more likely to win the popular vote, which is why
00:24:24
we have to hold. On to the Electoral College
00:24:26
because cities vote for Democrats overwhelmingly.
00:24:29
So la San Francisco, New York Atlanta, all these big cities
00:24:34
Chicago, they're all voting for Democrats at large large
00:24:40
numbers. Of course, Democrats would love
00:24:42
if that was the way it goes, but that's not really the way it
00:24:44
goes. Because the founders were smart
00:24:46
enough to know that if we did that all the cities would
00:24:49
basically just control the entire country, and rural areas
00:24:51
will be completely forgotten. That's not the point of this
00:24:54
episode, though. So, this argument that just
00:24:58
because Gary Johnson ran, it gave Hillary Clinton the edge in
00:25:00
the popular vote, who cares? The popular vote doesn't really
00:25:02
matter. That's not exactly how you win.
00:25:05
A presidency is a popular vote and we all know Democrats are
00:25:08
going to get more votes. Anyway, when it comes down to
00:25:11
it, it's all about the Electoral College at a state level and
00:25:17
trying 16. Gary Johnson, very nearly handed
00:25:19
crucial states to Clayton in Pennsylvania, where Trump's
00:25:22
margin was one point-three percentage.
00:25:23
Point Johnson got two point, four percent of the In
00:25:27
Wisconsin, where Trump won by 0.6 percentage points.
00:25:30
Johnson got three point, seven percent MIT and 3.7 percent in
00:25:34
Michigan where Trump won by a razor thin point-3 percentage
00:25:37
points Johnson got three point, six percent. so here's the
00:25:44
fallacy, in this argument, the fallacy in this argument is
00:25:46
assuming that every single person that he is quoting.
00:25:51
So let's say John's it got two point four percent of the vote
00:25:54
in Pennsylvania. The fallacy there is assuming
00:25:58
that every single person, those are 2.4% that could have gone to
00:26:02
Donald Trump and it could have won by a larger margin.
00:26:05
Same thing in Wisconsin. If you'd gotten that But that's
00:26:09
not necessarily the case and there is a George Washington
00:26:14
University Battleground poll. This was released back in
00:26:18
September of 2016 that a plurality of Johnson supporters
00:26:22
would vote for Clinton if the libertarian nominee were to drop
00:26:25
out for some reason more than 34 percent of Johnson, and Jill,
00:26:30
Stein supporters, say they'd back, Hillary Clinton over
00:26:32
Trump. If they had to choose between
00:26:34
the two 26%, pick the Republican nominee, and 23% said neither.
00:26:38
So 34% said, the plurality, meaning the most out of the
00:26:43
entire, all the percentages would have supported Hillary
00:26:47
Clinton. If they didn't have Johnson or
00:26:49
Jill Stein as an alternative, 23 percent said they wouldn't even
00:26:54
vote, they would just say, I'm not even going to vote.
00:26:57
So this argument to me is always one of those.
00:26:59
Well, if Libertarians didn't run than we would have won by a lot
00:27:03
more. Maybe, maybe Trump would have
00:27:07
picked up a half. Of a percentage point, you know,
00:27:10
in states that he already won. And again, I'm not saying Gary
00:27:14
Johnson was great. Gary Johnson was a bozo of a
00:27:16
candidate. He was way, too far left lane
00:27:20
for my taste. I think he was, you know, his VP
00:27:23
was anti guns. That's probably why he would
00:27:26
have taken more from Hillary. Clinton supporters is because of
00:27:30
the fact that he was more of a left-leaning Libertarian.
00:27:33
But this argument that just because Johnson got a percentage
00:27:35
of the vote doesn't necessarily mean that.
00:27:38
That Trump would have gotten all those votes.
00:27:41
He may have gotten a smaller percentage of that.
00:27:43
Remember, it's only 23% of that entire plurality would have
00:27:47
actually voted for Donald Trump. So you're saying, 23% of 2.4%
00:27:54
would have voted for Donald Trump if it weren't for.
00:27:58
So it's not really that big of a difference.
00:28:01
You know, a lot of people will say that, and I'll point out to
00:28:03
and say, well, it was a couple percentage points, not
00:28:06
necessarily, it's more of it, it's more.
00:28:08
Like a quarter of a percentage point, would have switched over
00:28:11
to Trump if possible when it came to Gary Johnson.
00:28:16
Go on. They talk about Joe jorgeson,
00:28:20
not really interested in talking about Jo jorgeson because 2020
00:28:23
was just an a mess of everything Libertarians frequently, argued
00:28:29
that they also take votes away from Democrats, or they attract
00:28:31
votes from people who have never never not have otherwise
00:28:34
participate, which is true. Based on that pole and study
00:28:37
shows that they actually do take some from Democrats.
00:28:41
It's also possible to 2020 election was influenced more by
00:28:44
other factors. Mark Zuckerberg has 400 million
00:28:47
comes to mind as the mass censorship of hundred in name
00:28:51
only to and so perhaps we should lay off a Libertarians or maybe
00:28:54
not in, close races. It remains a Libertarian cans,
00:28:56
get Democrats elected, he talks about the senate race.
00:29:03
The battle for us and in 2022. According to cook political
00:29:06
includes eight races are currently listed as toss-ups of
00:29:09
those eight. There are six states with
00:29:11
libertarian cants also in the race.
00:29:13
There, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Nevada.
00:29:16
Vania only one of those States. Pennsylvania has a green party.
00:29:18
Can also running the race in Arizona currently rated a
00:29:22
toss-up. I cook Bears.
00:29:23
A closer look the libertarian Camp.
00:29:25
Mark Victor raised over, 60 individual contributions.
00:29:28
These are through June 22nd and don't reflect contribution since
00:29:31
then it may be substantial doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo.
00:29:36
So Mark, Victor is the libertarian candidate in this
00:29:40
race? Blake Masters who have any boy
00:29:42
was very nice to bring up in the chat that Dave Smith actually
00:29:44
came out and supported Blake Masters.
00:29:46
Tears over Mark, Victor Mark, Victor might not be a Misa style
00:29:52
libertarian and I can understand if he's not a Misa style like
00:29:55
he's a woke libertarian or a Lola batarian as they like to
00:29:59
call him. I could see what Dave Smith
00:30:01
would support Blake Masters over this Mark, Victor guy, so that
00:30:05
could be a big deal right there. So the fact that Libertarians
00:30:08
and Dave Smith has said this before on his podcast he would
00:30:12
rather support a really good. Then a just a Libertarian.
00:30:19
Yes. Ally, no.
00:30:19
A Libertarian in name only. He said, stuff like he would
00:30:24
rather support. Like if there's good Canyons
00:30:26
like Rand, Paul or Thomas Massie support those Republicans, you
00:30:30
know, don't waste time with other Libertarians, we're going
00:30:33
to spoil the vote and get them prevented from getting and
00:30:36
running. But we don't know if this is
00:30:40
really going to have that big of an impact on Arizona through
00:30:44
June, he is only attracted a 21 donations, every one of them
00:30:47
from California. So I guess because, you know,
00:30:50
everything that comes out of California, must be horrible,
00:30:53
right? I mean, we're all just horrible
00:30:55
and everyone of us is a, you know, Bleed, Blue.
00:30:59
Socialized, that's what it must mean.
00:31:00
If it comes out California, it must be awful.
00:31:04
Libertarian candidates have various motives, some are
00:31:06
running on principle, some to acquire celebrity status.
00:31:09
In some are just so disillusioned with Republican
00:31:11
party that they're running as spoilers.
00:31:16
I lost my place. Oh sorry.
00:31:19
I am principal someone to acquire slurry size and summer
00:31:21
just is illusion with Republican party that they're running a
00:31:23
spoilers to hasten its destruction.
00:31:26
Republican candidates could be doing more to help themselves
00:31:29
offering a compelling and coherent vision of America's
00:31:31
future. Instead of merely identifying
00:31:33
the spectacular failures of the Democrats would be a good start
00:31:38
but the disunity imperfections and failures of Republicans
00:31:41
doesn't justify their Collective destruction.
00:31:44
Know overall, the ideological bias of Republican candidates
00:31:48
and Orders leans in the same direction as Libertarians
00:31:51
depends. Not all Libertarians are exactly
00:31:54
the same. They're not all, you know
00:31:56
Gadsden flag. Don't tread on me waving people
00:31:59
there. A lot of them were also like
00:32:00
former Democrats, former woke leftist, who are now libertarian
00:32:04
the more powerful the libertarian party becomes the
00:32:06
more certain and it is they will turn America over to Democrats.
00:32:09
Rendering the majority Sentiments of Americans
00:32:12
politically irrelevant that's life in a two-party system.
00:32:16
All right, so I'm going to get to your guys's comments on this.
00:32:20
Let me know what you think. Do you think this author is
00:32:23
correct? You think they're absolutely
00:32:25
correct in the sense that we should just blindly support the
00:32:28
Republican Party, whether they're horrible.
00:32:30
They're off or they're just less damaging than Democrats.
00:32:33
Is that what we should be doing? Is that really the where we
00:32:36
should be headed in all of this is we should be just blindly
00:32:42
supporting them because otherwise you're letting the And
00:32:46
and running. Here's my thoughts.
00:32:50
Third party candidates, especially good, third, party
00:32:53
candidates, do make do have a good purpose, they do make the
00:33:01
arguments more prevalent than the other.
00:33:05
What otherwise would be there, are what we call issue,
00:33:10
candidates issue, candidates or that's what I like to call them.
00:33:14
Some people also call them that issue candidates are our kin.
00:33:18
It's who run specifically because they know they're not
00:33:22
going to win but if they can get up on that stage and tell a
00:33:27
national audience, their ideas and their issues you get voters
00:33:31
to pay attention to that. There's been a lot of issue
00:33:37
candidates throughout history. There's been a lot of issue
00:33:40
candidates in the past several years when it comes to
00:33:42
presidential elections And you probably don't remember any of
00:33:46
them because none of them ever made it.
00:33:48
To the end. They were just there for one
00:33:50
particular reason. And these issue candidates do
00:33:54
that one job and they do it really well, which is they bring
00:33:57
up these arguments and they bring up all this stuff so that
00:34:00
people can voters can look at this and go.
00:34:03
Wow, these are issues. I've never really even thought
00:34:06
about, but now I think about them.
00:34:13
So for example, if you had a Libertarian candidate, who's out
00:34:18
there, who's bringing up these issues and a republican
00:34:20
candidate, let's The libertarian party that libertarian candidate
00:34:24
right now is going out there saying, look, we oppose all of
00:34:30
the covid, lockdowns, we oppose all the covid, bailouts, we
00:34:35
oppose all of the extra spending in the wars overseas.
00:34:39
These are our platforms and the Republican comes out and says,
00:34:44
well, I'm not a Democrat and maybe I'll lower your taxes.
00:34:51
What is the purpose of those two candidates?
00:34:54
Well, one candidate actually has issues and ideas and stuff that
00:34:58
they actually want to implement. The Republican gets the benefit
00:35:01
of running just because it's a two party system that they
00:35:06
basically get to step back and go.
00:35:07
Well, it's a two-party system and I'm the Republican.
00:35:10
I'm the only person opposing this Democrat and Democrats are
00:35:13
awful. So just vote Republican, right?
00:35:16
And that's usually what happens with a lot of Voters, the
00:35:19
midterm elections were will you To see what's going to happen
00:35:25
midterm elections. Usually, right after a new
00:35:27
president, is elected usually the new president and the new
00:35:29
Administration faces a backlash of people who are not happy with
00:35:33
what has happened in the first two years of their presidency.
00:35:36
So it would Trump. We saw it and we're probably
00:35:38
going to see it with Biden as well.
00:35:40
You're going to see a backlash or people go.
00:35:41
Well I don't like that guy in office or therefore I'm gonna
00:35:44
vote for the other party but where does that get us?
00:35:46
Does that get us any closer to really making this country
00:35:50
better? Or we just hand in from one
00:35:53
party to another. Are we just going?
00:35:56
Well, let's go from the Socialist candidate to the
00:35:59
lighter socialist candidate and for Republicans to say that they
00:36:02
are the anti-socialist. Let's just take, you know, let's
00:36:07
just get in our time machines, again.
00:36:09
Do you all remember in 2020 when Trump was handing out money like
00:36:12
it was candy on Halloween? Remember Trump box, everyone's
00:36:17
getting 1200 dollars $800. They're getting these nice
00:36:19
little checks. Remember all the the PPP loans
00:36:23
and all that stuff Trump bragged about how much money he spent.
00:36:27
And look at this is the biggest Financial bill ever sighs.
00:36:31
So guys, the biggest is the biggest bill ever in the
00:36:34
history. And I signed it because I'm the
00:36:37
greatest and it's big and it's huge.
00:36:38
Okay, that's what he bragged about is that he signed the
00:36:42
biggest Financial deal. Does that sound like a good?
00:36:45
Republican to. You does that sound like that's
00:36:47
less damaging we're now dealing with inflation because there's
00:36:51
so much money pumped into our system.
00:36:53
Does that sound like that makes sense as a fiscal conservative
00:36:56
or as somebody who believes in limited government?
00:36:59
And who doesn't believe in Socialism or handouts?
00:37:02
No, it sounds like very much like socialism.
00:37:04
It sounds like the state got involved, and the state paid
00:37:08
people to stay home and it paid businesses to stayed close and
00:37:13
it gave out trillions of dollars.
00:37:14
Dollars and billions to corporate welfare.
00:37:18
So does that sound like the sort of anti-socialist vote that this
00:37:27
guy is talking about? Doesn't sound like it to me.
00:37:30
It sounds like they're just lighter socialism, right?
00:37:35
And the Trump Administration, never put their foot down.
00:37:37
And said, I don't support all the lockdowns, we should never
00:37:41
have locked down. He started it, you know, he The
00:37:45
15 days to flatten the curve at all.
00:37:46
Came down from the top after that.
00:37:48
It's sort of just kind of went on its own, just kind of got
00:37:50
wild, but my point being is for you to just say, well, Where the
00:37:58
Republicans and we're not Democrats.
00:38:02
Don't pay attention to these other guys who are bringing up
00:38:04
other guys and gals. We're bringing out these really
00:38:06
good points about Liberty, freedom, and all this stuff that
00:38:11
we should be really taking a good look at it.
00:38:15
Don't look at it that way. Look at it as we just want to
00:38:17
put the brakes on. We want to pump the brakes a
00:38:19
little bit on this card which is driving off of a freaking Cliff.
00:38:24
We're going to pump the brakes. We're not going to head off the
00:38:27
cliff. You know, in the next five
00:38:29
minutes maybe we'll head off the cliff in the next 10 minutes
00:38:32
because we're doing the speed limit.
00:38:33
But at least we're not heading off the cliff as fast as
00:38:35
possible. Now likewise the libertarian
00:38:39
candidates have had an effect on Donald Trump in 2016 when you
00:38:43
ran where he said, Let's talk about abolishing or auditing the
00:38:47
FED. That was something that Donald
00:38:49
Trump said he said. Let's talk about auditing the
00:38:51
FED. He never said, let's abolish it,
00:38:53
but he did talk about auditing the Fed.
00:38:55
So this sort of issue, candidate of a third candidate.
00:38:57
A third party, bringing up these issues forces.
00:39:01
Republicans, if you want those votes, don't just cry about.
00:39:06
Well, they took two point four percent and even though not all
00:39:10
2.4% would have actually gone to you, they took this percentage.
00:39:15
And we lost this state and we lost that state.
00:39:20
So it's all the Libertarians fault.
00:39:23
I would say it's a Libertarians doing a good job.
00:39:26
Getting people to actually vote for him because they brought up
00:39:29
stuff that people are going to vote for, and that people are
00:39:31
going to support if you want to win that vote and you are more
00:39:34
likely to win. You should go out and win those
00:39:38
voters. You should say, I'm going to
00:39:40
reach out to that tiny little two or three percent.
00:39:45
Block of Voters because in a tight race, two or three percent
00:39:48
can make all the difference in the world between being a
00:39:51
squeaker and winning handedly. Maybe I should reach out to
00:39:56
them. Maybe I should bring up those
00:39:57
issues. Maybe I should talk about those
00:39:59
issues. I should be better on these
00:40:01
issues and if third-party candidates in third parties,
00:40:04
Force Republicans or the big parties to do better.
00:40:09
I think that's a win me personally, that's me
00:40:14
personally. You know, and someone just
00:40:16
brought up Tulsi gabbard I had actually had it.
00:40:18
Brought up Tulsi gabbard right now and this is, you know, it's
00:40:23
kind of funny coming on the heels of Tulsi gabbard saying
00:40:26
that she's no longer going to be a Democrat because of all these
00:40:28
things, Shows you that blind loyalty is not the best way to
00:40:33
go about it. It's not the best way to go.
00:40:35
Well, I have these two choices I got fit myself in one of these
00:40:38
boxes. Like, let's say we had a whole
00:40:41
bunch of parties, right? And you had the Democratic
00:40:46
party, the Republican party at the libertarian party.
00:40:49
Let's say you had the Socialist Workers of America party and
00:40:53
they're all relevant. Would you think that Bernie
00:40:56
Sanders someone like a Bernie Sanders or AOC would be a
00:40:59
Democrat? Now, they would most likely be
00:41:01
part of the Socialist. Instead, they're part of the
00:41:03
democratic party because they know that that's the power and
00:41:06
that if that's just blind loyalty and that's all they
00:41:08
looking for and they want to get into Power.
00:41:11
You got to be part of the democratic party, but props to
00:41:13
Tulsi gabbard, for saying I'm not going to do it anymore, I'm
00:41:16
not just going to blindly follow the Democratic party just
00:41:19
because I'm not a republican. Now, all of a sudden, everyone's
00:41:22
going hello, Tulsa. You should come over here and be
00:41:24
a republican. We're so much better.
00:41:27
Our use that much better and to kind of bring bring it back to
00:41:30
like California and kind of finish on this before we get
00:41:34
back into the comments and questions in the chat.
00:41:37
That's sort of what's going on here in California.
00:41:41
I saw someone bring up that there are good moderate
00:41:43
Democrats in California. Now, I know, you know, don't all
00:41:45
of a sudden log off and be like, holy crap, I hate this.
00:41:51
There are good moderate Democrats.
00:41:53
There are Democrats who I'd much rather have a moderate Democrat
00:41:56
than a far left is Democrat. And that is a little bit of
00:41:59
strategy, but here in California, the California GOP.
00:42:03
And I've said this a number of times is this philosophy.
00:42:09
Which is where not Democrats. And that's it.
00:42:15
Their whole thing is. Let's point out how absurd
00:42:17
California has gotten, which is fine.
00:42:19
We can all point out, how absurd California has gotten.
00:42:22
But the difference is that, if you're the major State party,
00:42:26
the only major opposition party in the state, you should be
00:42:30
doing a little bit more than just going.
00:42:32
Well, we're not Democrats. So you should vote for us,
00:42:35
that's not a way to win an election.
00:42:37
That's not a way to really rally support around you.
00:42:40
And that's not how you're going to build your RT up.
00:42:43
And I don't think this whole well just vote for it because
00:42:47
it's the better of the two, whether it's the the crap burger
00:42:50
or the turd sandwich or whatever which one is better.
00:42:55
So with that, I think there's there's a lot of room for
00:42:59
improvement and if let's say a Libertarian party in California,
00:43:03
pushes the California GOP to be better.
00:43:05
I'll be all for it. If it pushes Libertarians to
00:43:09
support better. Republican candidates.
00:43:12
I'm all for it. But you shouldn't just tell
00:43:15
people to shut up and take it in blindly take it because that's
00:43:19
on American to me. That's not American that you
00:43:21
have to pledge loyalty or fuel T to one of the two parties.
00:43:25
That's not American to me and for this author to be published
00:43:29
on American greatness and to say that say these things is deeply
00:43:35
unamerican and not what makes America great.
00:43:38
We should be able to choose who we want to support how we want
00:43:41
to organize and not be. Read about political parties and
00:43:45
just playing the game. So otherwise we're just going
00:43:49
back and forth and we're going from socialist and like,
00:43:52
socialist light. So, all right, let me know your
00:43:55
thoughts and comments got about 15 minutes left.
00:44:02
I wish the Republicans got behind the state of Jefferson
00:44:06
culturally California. Sees anything to the right of
00:44:08
Arnold's fascist regardless, both parties have their dinos
00:44:13
and rhinos. Yeah.
00:44:18
Did detective most times in California, V with blind,
00:44:21
loyalty, and small percentage to actually do the research.
00:44:23
It would be a wasted vote because the left comes out in
00:44:25
droves, so that they win, right? Because there are they have
00:44:31
bigger numbers in California. And that's something I've always
00:44:34
said, is that when you have a two-to-one Advantage, it's not
00:44:36
hard to win elections. When you have a two-to-one
00:44:38
Advantage, it's just how it is. And I don't think, you know,
00:44:44
credit to the Democrats for getting to that point, maybe
00:44:46
they were always at 50%, who knows.
00:44:48
Maybe they've always been at 50% and Republicans went from 50%
00:44:51
down to 25%. You know, it's more of a
00:44:55
statement that the Republicans aren't able to hold onto
00:44:57
registered voters as much as they should be, which tells you
00:45:00
one thing. The Republican Party should get
00:45:04
better in California. It absolutely has to get better
00:45:07
in California. There has to be reformed.
00:45:09
There has to be a platform that people can get behind and that's
00:45:12
That's no ifs, ands or buts. But Blind loyalty is good.
00:45:16
Neither on the left or on the right after America.
00:45:19
For me is largely minorities and mostly Hispanics.
00:45:22
That make the state as well. As African rambla Asians.
00:45:27
I have to admit the Dems, do a solid job to get to minority
00:45:30
votes. They do.
00:45:30
Yeah, they absolutely do. What are your thoughts on the
00:45:34
house? Introducing a bill that would
00:45:36
restore the gold standard? I haven't seen it.
00:45:40
I don't know if we can go back to the gold standard.
00:45:42
And to be honest, there's so much money in circulation.
00:45:45
We would have to have a ton of gold to back every single dollar
00:45:49
and I don't know how that transition will go.
00:45:52
I don't know if we'd be able to pay off our debts.
00:45:54
So, I think maybe the horses out of the barn on that one.
00:45:58
So, That's really, I mean it's a shame.
00:46:04
We kind of went off of the gold standard a while back and 50
00:46:09
years ago with 50 years ago with Nixon.
00:46:14
Because now we have fiat currency and that's just
00:46:17
absolutely awful the way it's been.
00:46:19
But I don't think we can go back.
00:46:21
When it comes to the gold standard.
00:46:22
I wish we could. I think you have to abolish the
00:46:25
Federal Reserve to start off. I think that should be, but
00:46:29
that's a hold of separate. We can do a whole separate show
00:46:32
about abolishing the fed, and why that would be better.
00:46:36
I'd love to have someone who's a big economic person who can
00:46:39
explain this much better than I can.
00:46:42
Let's see. Other comments, lay them on me,
00:46:45
comments, questions. Do do, do, do do.
00:46:52
Same bird, two wings. That's why I couldn't in good
00:46:55
conscience. Choose to be a dam or a
00:46:56
republican. Yeah, that's a lot of people's
00:47:00
frustration. People are frustrated.
00:47:08
Regardless, no matter what Trump will run, again, money to him is
00:47:10
not a problem when he has to run again and he has a lot of
00:47:12
support from his own party and I think it'll be interesting to
00:47:19
see whether he runs or not. I'm not sure if he really wants
00:47:26
to, I don't know. I think DeSantis is the Clear
00:47:29
Choice, but you know, if Trump runs again, I think it'll just
00:47:34
give few. Like, the left is probably
00:47:36
hoping Trump runs again. They probably want Trump to run
00:47:39
again, because it will increase their ratings.
00:47:42
I'll make more money off of it and they have something too.
00:47:47
Something to really, really it'd be great to see the more debates
00:47:49
with libertarian so that they can bring up the good topic.
00:47:51
So people can see how the DNR KS respond, to some real issues.
00:47:55
I agree and there is a lot of issues with when it comes to
00:48:00
ballot access and stuff like that.
00:48:01
Third parties don't really allowed that they don't really
00:48:05
get a good placement and they're not really allowed in debates,
00:48:08
which I think is kind of a shame.
00:48:09
I think there should be all of them.
00:48:15
I think there should be debates between Democrats, Republicans,
00:48:20
Libertarians, green party. I think there should be all
00:48:22
these ideas because, you know, I think that people need to hear
00:48:29
these ideas. They need to hear ideas outside
00:48:31
of the to politically approved, the to politically approved
00:48:38
parties. And when you have two parties
00:48:41
that the media and everybody can control its Easier to funnel the
00:48:46
same ideas over and over again to give people.
00:48:48
This is the illusion of the only choice that you have are these
00:48:51
two parties. So if they bring in a whole
00:48:56
bunch of other people or at least couple other people, then
00:49:00
there's a whole bunch of people if they bring on a couple more
00:49:03
people to bring up ideas, then you can't really control what
00:49:07
they're going to say. And then you might have one of
00:49:10
these, you know, crazy libertarian saying, let's
00:49:12
abolish all the, you know, Department of Education, the
00:49:15
face. Chad and data, and let's do all
00:49:17
way with all this, bring everyone home from war and get
00:49:20
rid of all of our foreign bases and all that stuff, you know,
00:49:26
that's, that's why I don't think they really want that many
00:49:29
people. That's why they don't want
00:49:30
Libertarians or anything like that.
00:49:32
I mean, look, what happened. With Ross Perot, Ross Perot was
00:49:34
allowed to be on the stage, and he brought up all these
00:49:36
different issues and he won a good percentage of the vote one,
00:49:39
double digits as a third-party candidate.
00:49:41
Probably cause George w--. Bush.
00:49:42
The election. That's a case where he probably
00:49:45
did. Cost George w-- Bush the
00:49:46
election. So yeah.
00:49:51
I joined a well-known group of Republicans.
00:49:52
They wouldn't go into areas that need it.
00:49:54
The most, they would only hold events and Echo chamber.
00:49:57
So I left. This is who Republicans are?
00:50:01
I love you had to search my car for gas money.
00:50:03
Yeah, it's getting bad out. There is really bad.
00:50:06
Like I said, it's going to affect people's driving and
00:50:08
their driving habits and all that, but yeah, Republicans are
00:50:12
not very good. Especially, in California,
00:50:14
you're behind the eight ball. You're not going to win over
00:50:17
voters by going to the same old places.
00:50:21
Over and over, and over again. And Cobra kado brought this up
00:50:24
on a previous podcast episode where he was on with us.
00:50:28
And he talked about how he had gone into neighborhoods where
00:50:32
they were never Republicans ever showed up and that he talked to
00:50:35
him and he was like, Hey, and by the way, I'm running as a
00:50:37
Republican, and people were like, you know, we've never had
00:50:40
a republican come into this neighborhood and they agreed
00:50:43
with him on a lot of things. And it just so happened.
00:50:46
All he had to do was talk to people And get that out there
00:50:50
and it's tough because you have to get people who want to walk
00:50:53
and talk about this stuff and you know, they don't want it's
00:50:56
hard I'm not going to lie. Walking is tough.
00:51:01
But Republicans really do have to get better at going out into
00:51:04
these neighborhoods in areas that are not typically,
00:51:07
typically Republican, you know and they got it they got to
00:51:11
start finding votes otherwise you're just going to continue to
00:51:15
become more of a marginalized party that doesn't really have
00:51:17
any power. The state of California so
00:51:20
you're going to have to go out and do these things.
00:51:22
You're gonna have to go out and areas and talk to people and say
00:51:25
this is our platform. Is this what you support?
00:51:28
Bubba can we get you to maybe? Can we count on your vote?
00:51:33
So and you can't keep going the same old places.
00:51:41
If the cowering GOP loses Orange County?
00:51:45
Well, I mean they sort of already lost it.
00:51:47
I mean it has Democratic Congress.
00:51:49
Well you know, you still have Michelle young and Sean and
00:51:53
what's her name? Is it right?
00:51:56
Michelle young and young Kim Michelle.
00:52:00
Michelle steel and Yong Kim. Sorry, but overall OC is
00:52:05
trending in the wrong direction so there's a lot of problems
00:52:10
going on there. I mean, it's happening here in
00:52:14
San Diego. San Diego was had a lot of red
00:52:17
representation, it's gotten more, and more blue and now we
00:52:20
have Todd Gloria, running the helm and, you know, homelessness
00:52:25
is worse than ever. So here we are.
00:52:29
There's still hope for San Diego, though.
00:52:30
I think there's a good amount of representation out here.
00:52:32
I don't think it's completely deep blue, it's not as deep
00:52:35
blue. As most people think it is I
00:52:39
would say San Diego's more purple.
00:52:45
All right, got a couple minutes left anymore.

Chats, any more questions? I'll be out of town next week,
00:52:53
so it won't be a podcast or coffee and California politics,
00:52:57
but I'll be back the following week and then we got the big
00:52:59
event on the 29th, which is going to be epic.
00:53:02
I can't guarantee I will do a trump impersonation at the 29th
00:53:07
for everybody there but it should be fun.
00:53:10
It's gonna be a lot of great candidates.
00:53:11
It's going to be a really fun event.
00:53:13
To host and just to see a lot of people, I think it's important
00:53:17
to see the people who are, you know, all together.
00:53:21
And I think that's one of the reasons why I created this
00:53:23
podcast. I created this platform was that
00:53:25
people can feel like, hey, I'm not alone in California.
00:53:28
There's other people out there who think like I do, and I think
00:53:31
coming out and seeing seeing all the numbers and all that will be
00:53:36
really good for people, get them really energized because there's
00:53:39
some, there's some great candidates and there is Some
00:53:43
games have a great shot. Like Lonnie Chen has a shot to
00:53:47
win a Statewide office, which would be a first for a
00:53:50
Republican and a long time. So and Brian dog will be there.
00:53:54
He was on the show last week. If you haven't checked out that
00:53:56
interview, definitely go check it out.
00:53:58
It's up on YouTube, or you can check it out on audio, any audio
00:54:01
podcast, anything like that. So, all right with that said,
00:54:05
I'm going to log off for the day.
00:54:07
Tomorrow night, we're going to do a prop break down to
00:54:09
proposition. As we're going to prop 1A, we're
00:54:11
going to prop 30. We're going to talk about those
00:54:12
two. Because elections coming up,
00:54:16
it's only, you know, separate less than a month away.
00:54:18
We're almost we're in the final stretch, is the home stretch
00:54:21
here and then we have the, what else is coming up?
00:54:26
Oh, we have Sunday night, the 23rd, which is going to be the
00:54:29
debate, I think. And we're going to live stream
00:54:31
the debate so that should be really exciting.
00:54:35
So with that said, thanks everyone and I'll see you on the
00:54:39
next one later. Thank you for listening to
00:55:06
another episode of California underground.
