Every Wednesday morning at 9am on Instagram, I go live on Instagram and discuss California Politics over coffee.
On this episode we the discuss the federal probe of Karen Bass and USC for giving her a full ride scholarship, the investigation of LA County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl giving no bid contracts to a close friend, and an insider says Gavin Newsom is "unequivocally" running if Biden does not seek a second term.
*The California Underground Podcast is dedicated to discussing California politics for people who want to cut through the insanity and get real answers.*

Review the Anchor.Fm Privacy Policy: Anchor - The easiest way to make a podcast
00:00:06
If you're a California, conservative a Libertarian, a
00:00:09
moderate Democrat. Believe in common sense or just
00:00:12
the same person. This is the political podcast
00:00:14
for you. It's the California underground
00:00:17
podcast. What's going on?
00:00:21
Good morning everybody. Thanks for tuning in to another
00:00:24
episode of coffee and California politics, took a week off.
00:00:28
I was traveling went to the beautiful state of Hawaii for
00:00:32
the first time ever in my life last week.
00:00:35
So got to enjoy some nice time off back now, doing a double
00:00:40
header today and in this is like the final stretch.
00:00:42
We got to the final stretch from now until election day, there's
00:00:45
going to be a lot to talk about is gonna be a lot of candidates
00:00:47
to talk to tonight. We have Of a really interesting
00:00:52
guest. Adam, he's been on before from
00:00:54
open the books. Last time we talked to Adam, he
00:00:58
was in the middle of a federal lawsuit to get California to
00:01:01
open its books and they were one of the last states to really
00:01:05
open their checkbook. Meaning that there's this
00:01:07
registry of you can see what is what the state is spending its
00:01:10
money on and California is one of the last not surprising.
00:01:13
Why do you think California's one of the last to actually open
00:01:16
their books and allow for people to see what is going on?
00:01:19
What are they spending money on? And he was able to get that
00:01:22
information. He's got a lot of information.
00:01:24
So it's going to really be interesting to talk about
00:01:26
everything that they've uncovered in terms of what is
00:01:29
noodle spending money on a lot of stuff going out to vendors
00:01:32
which then turn around and then donate back to him.
00:01:35
So there's a lot of stuff to really get into pulling a double
00:01:38
header today. So we got the coffee cup wearing
00:01:42
politics right now. And then later tonight at 8
00:01:44
p.m., we're going to have the live podcast on YouTube so you
00:01:48
can go join there as well. Back on doing the double time
00:01:51
because we need to catch up on a lot of stuff.
00:01:54
There's a lot of stuff to get to specifically today, in coffee
00:01:57
and California politics. A lot of corruption going out.
00:02:00
We're talking about two different stories corruption,
00:02:03
mostly and Scandals that are happening within California that
00:02:06
have been uncovered and no surprise.
00:02:09
I mean, why are we surprised at all that when you're a one-party
00:02:12
State, such as California, you can get away with a lot of stuff
00:02:17
because who's going to really call you out on it.
00:02:20
We're going to Talk about two of those stories.
00:02:21
One of them is supervisor Cole from l.a.
00:02:24
She's kind of board. Supervisor will talk about Karen
00:02:26
bass as well. Who's involved in a federal
00:02:29
investigation as well? She's kind of being brought in.
00:02:33
She hasn't been charged with anything yet, but there is sort
00:02:36
of this big Federal probe as to whether there was a contribution
00:02:39
and kind and they didn't really report it and stuff like that.
00:02:43
The former USC Dean actually just plead guilty recently.
00:02:46
So we're going to unpack that as well.
00:02:50
Little tip that I guess came from whether noodles was going
00:02:54
to run for president in 2020 for according to someone close to
00:02:58
the noodles camp that there is going to be.
00:03:01
If Biden doesn't run, he will run.
00:03:03
He's absolutely going to run, which is no shocker to us
00:03:06
because we've been talking about it for months.
00:03:08
Now, we've been saying for months that if Biden doesn't
00:03:10
run, its most likely going to be Gavin, Newsom is already
00:03:13
prepping himself a run it and it seems more and more likely that
00:03:16
I don't think Biden plans on running.
00:03:18
He had a 60 Minutes interview Where he was talking about
00:03:21
whether he would run or not. And then he said that's my
00:03:24
intention. That doesn't mean like that's
00:03:26
really what's going to happen? So it's all very vague.
00:03:29
It's weird for a president to be like very vague about whether
00:03:31
he's running for re-election. It's also we're in a very odd
00:03:35
kind of time where we haven't had a President Who seems so in
00:03:39
strong mental decline, such as President Biden to the point
00:03:43
where they have to keep asking them over and over and over
00:03:46
again. Are you going to run in 2024?
00:03:49
Do you look forward to In 2024 because I think a lot of people
00:03:53
look at his age, they look as mental stamina or what's left of
00:03:57
it, and then they kind of say, do you think you're actually
00:04:00
going to run in 2024? And he kind of has to say, well
00:04:03
yeah, man, that's man as about. That's my intention Jack and
00:04:07
then they kind of have to keep asking about.
00:04:09
So yeah, a lot, a lot of stuff, done cover today, doubleheader
00:04:13
today, in terms of shows, and content and stuff like that.
00:04:17
We got a couple big candidates were lining up.
00:04:20
Working on game, Brian Dolly on the program as well for a
00:04:22
podcast talking, with his team behind the scenes.
00:04:26
So we're trying to kind of arrange that we know he's very
00:04:28
busy, but we're going to try and get him on for a hour-long
00:04:31
podcast. I'll thank you.
00:04:34
It's not hard to do a bite impression.
00:04:35
You just sound like the creepy old guy from Family Guy and
00:04:38
that's basically all you have to do.
00:04:41
All right, so what story should we start with first?
00:04:45
Let's start with the keironb, a story because I want to get into
00:04:47
the coal slurry and its really That one I think has a lot more
00:04:53
substance to it. And if you really read what's
00:04:54
going on, you can kind of just shake your head and go.
00:04:56
California is so corrupt and the Democratic party itself.
00:05:02
It's a very, it's very because it's a one-party State, it's a
00:05:07
very close-knit. So let's talk about Karen bass
00:05:13
first. If you don't know what's going
00:05:14
on with Karen bass, Karen bass received a full funded
00:05:18
scholarship for a graduate degree.
00:05:20
At USC. Now she did actually take
00:05:22
classes, she did actually earn the graduate degree wasn't like,
00:05:25
they just gave her a graduate degree because she's a
00:05:28
congressman, you know, sometimes they will give someone like an
00:05:31
honorary doctorate even though it doesn't really mean anything,
00:05:36
it's just like an honorary doctorate.
00:05:37
Doesn't make you look like a real doctor, you don't call
00:05:40
someone a doctor. After they get honorary
00:05:42
doctorate, she actually went ahead and in 2012, registered
00:05:46
for classes and got started to take classes.
00:05:51
Long story short of it, the former USC Dean at the time,
00:05:56
gave her a basically full-ride scholarship should have to pay
00:05:59
anything. Why would he do this?
00:06:02
What would be the incentive? Well one because you may think
00:06:05
it's really cool that a congresswoman, is taking a
00:06:07
congress like your graduate degree but it also is because
00:06:11
the USC Dean had something up his sleeve, and this was sort of
00:06:14
the back deal, bargain, which he's getting roped into now.
00:06:17
And now he's pleading guilty to So this is from the Los Angeles
00:06:22
Times. This Flynn harbored longer-term,
00:06:24
plans for Bass and awarding the scholarship according to Federal
00:06:26
prosecutors in l.a. pointing to emails and documents prosecutor
00:06:30
say Flynn, hope to advance legislation that would quote
00:06:34
provide more funding for the social work school by allowing
00:06:36
private universities to receive matching grants for certain
00:06:39
types of Social Work services and quo.
00:06:42
It's unclear What legislation prosecution prosecutors are
00:06:45
referring to the nail. Legislation is redacted in court
00:06:47
filings. However, the description tracks.
00:06:50
Mostly with the child welfare Workforce Partnership Act, which
00:06:54
bass sponsoring 2014. Now again, she started in 2012.
00:06:58
So this legislation was sort of bubbling up and this was
00:07:01
something that USC could get sort of their hands in because
00:07:05
of the grants. And all that would be, that
00:07:07
would be given out that bill sought to allow private
00:07:10
universities like USC to obtain the same Federal reimbursement,
00:07:13
to train social workers, that public universities can.
00:07:15
So if there's an opportunity for a university to get that sweet,
00:07:19
sweet A payout and that Federal pork, they're going to take it.
00:07:23
And this USC Dean saw that if he got in good, with Karen bass,
00:07:27
who sponsored the bill that he would, that it would kind of
00:07:33
help it get across the finish line and they would help benefit
00:07:36
from it. The role find who led USC's
00:07:38
growing online, social work program in the development of
00:07:41
the bills. Not fully clear.
00:07:42
But in court filings prosecutors have contended that the former
00:07:46
Dean made her legislative goals known with input from the Flynn
00:07:50
bass, ultimately co-sponsored a bill, which made private
00:07:53
universities like USC eligible for matching Grant funds, just
00:07:56
as defendant Flynn wanted prosecutor said the times
00:07:59
provided prosecutors Court found to the bass campaign and asked
00:08:03
what input? If any Flynn provided bass did
00:08:05
not answer the question, her campaign spokesperson provided a
00:08:09
response from bass, former legislative director, Jenny
00:08:12
Delwood. I don't remember whether we
00:08:14
heard from Flint or not said, Dellwood who is currently
00:08:16
campuses campaign manager? Dellwood suggested that It's
00:08:20
Flynn's input into the Child Welfare Workforce Partnership.
00:08:23
Act could have been critical since child.
00:08:24
Welfare Advocates including a USC Professor.
00:08:27
Paul Carlo have been calling for similar legislation.
00:08:29
Since the mid-1990s bass had maintained that if Carlos
00:08:33
encouragement, that prompted her to propose the legislation,
00:08:37
which did not make it out of the House of Representatives of her.
00:08:40
Dealings with Flynn bass, said my interactions with her were no
00:08:42
different than any interactions with any number of other
00:08:45
education, business, and nonprofit leaders.
00:08:48
When bass graduates are do Masters. 2015, she was hug by
00:08:51
flying on stage. But what?
00:08:54
By that time USC social work, school was booming fueled by the
00:08:56
online degree program bass completed, but the explosive
00:09:00
growth. Put pressure to recruit new
00:09:01
students. He's admission Center and raise
00:09:03
revenue, including from government contracts.
00:09:05
The times I reported prosecutors say Flynn corded the then
00:09:08
prominent preeminent power broker in LA County, Supervisor
00:09:12
ridley-thomas along with his son.
00:09:13
Sebastian then a state lawmaker represent communities in South
00:09:17
and West. L.a. we We'll offer a full
00:09:21
scholarship for or two schools. I did the same for Karen bass,
00:09:24
full scholarship for our funds so it goes on and on and really
00:09:28
keeps talking about basically how this is intertwined.
00:09:33
Oh, Karen bass. Maybe she didn't really, I mean,
00:09:36
if you got some sort of contribution, if you're a
00:09:40
candidate you have to be sort of aware of the fact that when
00:09:43
people give you a contribution, it can be money and it can be
00:09:47
what called a contribution in kind and a con You shouldn't
00:09:50
kind is where you give something of value to that person and they
00:09:55
have to report that, and so far, it doesn't look like it's been
00:09:58
reported. It was ever reported by Karen
00:10:00
bass and that this is just coming out now.
00:10:05
And now they're starting to look at and say we wait a second, you
00:10:08
gave her a full ride scholarship and then all of a sudden she
00:10:11
also sponsored this bill. That would have directly
00:10:14
benefited you. Yeah.
00:10:17
And that's really where it gets kind of kind of sticky but all
00:10:20
in all this is still going on and I doubt to see if I don't
00:10:25
think Karen bash will be kind of brought into this.
00:10:28
I don't think she could probably play dumb and say, like I didn't
00:10:30
really know they were doing this.
00:10:32
So, where is this guy? This will be an interesting
00:10:34
story to kind of follow. However is I think having an
00:10:37
implication on the election because she's up for election
00:10:40
for the LA Mayoral race, going up against Rick Russo, and Rick
00:10:44
Russo, who's one of his main tenants of running for LA mayor
00:10:48
is to get rid of corruption. In LA and this is sort of right
00:10:53
in his wheelhouse if we're talking about what he's kind of
00:10:55
campaigning on. And then I believe they have a
00:10:58
debate coming up tonight and you can imagine that he's going to
00:11:02
absolutely try and rip her a new one on this one.
00:11:05
Now, of course, Karen bass is going to have some sort of
00:11:08
sliming politan, political answer to way to get out of it.
00:11:12
But either way, the message will get out there and the message
00:11:17
will be pushed from now until election.
00:11:20
Action. So even if Karen bass isn't
00:11:22
really indicted or anything happens to her or find or
00:11:25
anything like that, it still lingers over the entire election
00:11:30
for La Mayoral race. Now, right now, they're saying
00:11:33
that Karen bass has attended or a double-digit lead over Rick
00:11:37
Russo. I could see that tightening
00:11:40
coming up in the next couple weeks.
00:11:42
We still have a full over full month before the election but
00:11:47
This is going to be sort of one of those issues and it's
00:11:50
definitely not come at the wrong time.
00:11:52
And the fact that it's being dragged out as much as it is,
00:11:55
could affect the LA Mayoral race, that's for sure.
00:11:59
And if something to keep an eye on, I'm sure Rick Crews will
00:12:01
continue to hammer, Karen bass on that.
00:12:06
And just make an issue from here on out.
00:12:09
Now, the next big controversial Scandal which is really
00:12:11
interesting and this also has some breaking news that I have
00:12:14
to talk about because I think it's really Ali really
00:12:17
interesting. And again, when you have a
00:12:20
one-party state who's really policing who, because if you're
00:12:24
all in the same party and you're all on the same team, no one's
00:12:28
really going to be policing each other and you can get away with
00:12:30
murder in a state where everyone kind of just looks out for each
00:12:34
other. And that's one of the issues of
00:12:36
California when you have a one party state is, you're going to
00:12:40
see a lot of these favors are going to see a lot of this
00:12:43
stuff. You're going to see a lot of
00:12:45
this. I scratch your back.
00:12:47
You scratch mine and this political corruption is nothing
00:12:52
new here in the state of California.
00:12:55
If you haven't heard already, there was this raid of
00:12:59
supervisor, Sheila kuehl, I think that's how you pronounce
00:13:02
her name. And it was big news.
00:13:05
What had happened was not Sheriff.
00:13:08
Alex Villanueva was also up for re-election, his Department had
00:13:14
served a warrant on her home and kind.
00:13:17
Kind of like frog walked her out of the house.
00:13:20
Now they're the images were out of the sheriff's, walking her
00:13:23
out of her house, making it look horrible.
00:13:26
But the story itself is really interesting and they're trying
00:13:30
to paint this as a negative on Alex Villanueva because and I
00:13:35
want to read a little bit of the LA mag which is Ellie magazine
00:13:38
which is so so biased against Villanueva.
00:13:42
Basically if you go to their site all the top stories are all
00:13:45
about how Alex This horrible, horrible person and I want to
00:13:49
read a little bit of it, and then we're going to get to sort
00:13:51
of the turn of events that just happened.
00:13:53
Basically today, recently, and talked about why this is really
00:13:58
frustrating. So the story is, I'll give you
00:14:01
the quick kind of nitty-gritty about what happened.
00:14:06
Sheila kuehl, who is a County supervisor for the County of Los
00:14:10
Angeles. Has this friend Patricia
00:14:13
Gibbons? I think is her name, and she
00:14:15
runs Remind me if I don't kind of Peace over violence Giggles.
00:14:20
Yep she runs this nonprofit peace over violence.
00:14:24
Now, there were contracts that were being handed out no-bid
00:14:30
meaning that the County of Los Angeles handing out.
00:14:33
A lot of these no-bid contracts to this nonprofit to deal with a
00:14:37
lot of the marketing or allow the informational packets and
00:14:39
stuff like that and there was no bid as to there was no bid of to
00:14:46
get that contract. There was no competition at all.
00:14:50
And why this is really interesting is because Sheila
00:14:52
kuehl is a real close personal friend of the person.
00:14:55
Patricia Diggins who does run this nonprofit now, if that does
00:15:02
be, that's what they're kind of looking into is, is there this
00:15:05
conflict of interest when it comes to?
00:15:08
What's going on between these two and did?
00:15:12
She basically just give her favoritism was?
00:15:14
Is it because it? She was her friend.
00:15:17
I would like to say I mean when there's smoke, there's fire, if
00:15:19
it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it looks like it
00:15:21
probably is a duck and this looks pretty blatant that if
00:15:25
you're really close friends with the person who runs a non-profit
00:15:28
and your the County supervisor and all of a sudden there,
00:15:31
you're getting no-bid contracts from the county to this one
00:15:35
nonprofit. It does look a little shady and
00:15:38
it probably is what happened. Now, the LA mag came out and
00:15:43
wrote this whole article with the title rate of County,
00:15:47
There's home is abhorrent on-brand for Sheriff.
00:15:49
Alex Villanueva, I saw this on Instagram the other day and I
00:15:52
thought this is one of those things where they're now trying
00:15:55
to change it and not even talk about the fact that there is an
00:15:58
alleged crime of conflict of interest here.
00:16:00
Someone is misusing your tax dollars.
00:16:03
That's not the story, according to Los Angeles magazine.
00:16:05
That is not the story right there story.
00:16:08
Is that Alex Villanueva is this big meanie and that he should be
00:16:12
voted out of office and that it looks like he's going to get
00:16:15
voted out of office, and we should do everything we can to
00:16:17
get them out of office. But let's not talk about the
00:16:20
fact that there is this huge corruption Scandal, right?
00:16:26
So instead McMahon for assembly said, she'll awarded her fan of
00:16:29
no bit but contract only funds just under which we require a
00:16:31
vote by the board. Correct.
00:16:33
So there it was done in this Shady way so that it obviously
00:16:40
went as easy as possible, and no one would really have to keep
00:16:42
eyes on it. And then there was someone who
00:16:44
kind of tipped them off, The way the Los Angeles magazine
00:16:49
portrays. This is probably one of the most
00:16:52
biased and sickening ways to portray this story outside of
00:16:55
the fact that they just don't like Alex Villanueva poop scuse
00:17:00
me, absolutely everything you need to know about, Los Angeles,
00:17:03
County Sheriff, Alex Villanueva, his reputation La was
00:17:05
encapsulated by the wackadoodle events that unfolded Wednesday
00:17:09
morning as the sheriff's. Deputy pounded, on the door of
00:17:11
County Supervisor, Sheila kuehl, Santa Monica home at 7 a.m. and
00:17:16
made the AHA Oxygen, Aryan octogenarian.
00:17:19
I guess she's 80 years old. Is that what that means?
00:17:21
Oxygen are walk outside a Barefoot?
00:17:23
So they could search her home. The general reaction was less.
00:17:26
What did Sheila do and more? What the hell did Alex do this
00:17:30
time? No, actually my first reaction
00:17:33
was what did this lady do that? The sheriff showed up to her
00:17:36
house, and walked her out of her house to do his warrant.
00:17:41
So what did Villanueva do something?
00:17:42
So stunning caustic, ostentatious and downright.
00:17:46
Rude and unjustified vindictive and politically motivated
00:17:50
attempt to shower a perceived enemy with bad press.
00:17:53
Using the power, the public has entrusted to him.
00:17:55
In this sort of behavior is entirely on brand, for our
00:17:58
carnival ride of a county lawmen.
00:18:00
I guess you get paid by the word when it comes to La mag because
00:18:04
he had to add as bad as many adjectives as you possibly
00:18:06
could, as almost every Observer noted Wednesday morning, the
00:18:09
search is Less than two months before an election which
00:18:12
Villanueva seems destined to be shellac.
00:18:14
Now, I don't know if he's destined to be shellacked.
00:18:16
I mean that may be what your hope is that he's going to be
00:18:19
shellacked, but that doesn't mean he's destined to be, shall
00:18:22
I? Again, it says so much about the
00:18:24
sheriff and his tenure that the immediate discussion, Focus Less
00:18:27
on a Ledge law-breaking by cool. And more on how the sheriff
00:18:30
could think that this would persuade voters to Rally around
00:18:33
him, instead of his Challenger Long Beach police chief, Robert
00:18:36
Luna, who in his own, right is a wackadoodle If we're using his
00:18:41
words wackadoodle, far left, police officer just look into
00:18:46
him, we're not going to get into it today but just go look into
00:18:49
him. The sheriff's department is to
00:18:51
take Sheriff's Department, take is that cool was involved in a
00:18:54
corrupt scheme that gave peace over violence, a non-profit run
00:18:58
by gig ends a series of no-bid contracts to set up a hotline to
00:19:01
field. Sexual harassment complaints on
00:19:03
Metro buses, and trains alarms have been wrong before in this
00:19:07
possible boondoggle in 2020 at 10 minutes.
00:19:10
Fox 11 news reports cited a whistleblower and started at the
00:19:14
hotline was little used and was costing taxpayers up to eight
00:19:17
thousand dollars a call. The assertions are
00:19:21
eyebrow-raising but not nothing, not anything new.
00:19:27
Not anything new so they're just fine with this.
00:19:30
Is that what they're really saying is not anything, new, not
00:19:32
nothing really to see here, not really a big deal.
00:19:36
I don't know why we're making this a really big deal because
00:19:39
you know like where are we talking about?
00:19:41
This guy's M reports. After Wednesday, searches point
00:19:44
out, that when LASD investigators brought the matter
00:19:48
to the district attorney George gascon 2021, he declined to move
00:19:52
forward, shocker George gascon one of The easiest on crime DA's
00:19:58
in the entire country who is also an avowed Democrat.
00:20:02
Far-left Democrat would not bring up charges or any sort of
00:20:08
investigation against a fellow far-left Democrat.
00:20:12
Wow, I'm shocked. So that's it.
00:20:16
That's the proof in the pudding. Right.
00:20:18
You think that's that's it. No, l a MAG has more examples of
00:20:21
why this is not a big deal and everyone shouldn't really look
00:20:25
at this. The A Attorney John General Rob
00:20:28
bonta has displayed. No inclination to prosecute nor
00:20:33
has the US Department of Justice.
00:20:35
Wow, okay so all three of these entities must be right.
00:20:38
They must be all completely absolutely right Rob bonta.
00:20:42
Also another Democratic show decided.
00:20:44
So that's two right, that's two right there.
00:20:46
George gascon raw, bonta route, bonta, who maliciously, publish
00:20:50
all the information of all gun owners in the state of
00:20:53
California. Just on an oopsie.
00:20:56
I remember There was nothing. There was never any follow-up
00:20:58
about what happened there, just on an oopsie after the Supreme
00:21:01
Court ruling and Bruin that allowed for opening for carrying
00:21:05
concealed and expanded or restored as my friend as well.
00:21:08
The likes to say restored, our Second Amendment rights.
00:21:12
All of a sudden that happened so well because these to this
00:21:16
decline to prosecute case closed, right?
00:21:18
They don't want to look into it Norris, the US Department of
00:21:21
Justice. As much as you want to trust
00:21:23
them. I mean, who runs the Department
00:21:26
of Justice right now, which has everyone knows loves to take on
00:21:29
public corruption in Los Angeles.
00:21:33
Okay, maybe sometimes, but just because you have these three
00:21:37
entities, I've decided not to prosecute, especially the first
00:21:40
to your argument. Shouldn't be that these two
00:21:43
devoutly. Dark blue far-left, Democrats
00:21:46
are not going to go after another far-left Democrat.
00:21:51
If prosecutors up and down, the dial, don't want a case.
00:21:55
There's a reason for that. Let me say that again.
00:21:58
This is a serious sentence that this person wrote.
00:22:01
I don't know if it's a he or she Say, I don't want to assume
00:22:03
gender, it's the LA Mac. You don't want to assume their
00:22:05
gender. If prosecutors up and down the
00:22:07
dial, don't want a case. There's a reason for that.
00:22:15
Well, I think there's a reason for that.
00:22:19
But I don't think it's the reason you're thinking, I don't
00:22:22
think your reason is that there probably is no case here and
00:22:26
there's nothing that we have to worry about.
00:22:29
When in reality, the reason is because you have to far-left,
00:22:32
Democrats, who are at the Helm of the justice system here in
00:22:35
California, and they don't want to invest gonna investigate and
00:22:39
prosecute. Another far-left, Democrat, that
00:22:41
would be my reason. That's the reason.
00:22:44
I don't think that's the reason l a MAG thinks it is.
00:22:47
Let's keep going. And he talks about He was
00:22:49
recused himself from the investigation that under
00:22:51
Sheriff. Tim Morecambe a is running the
00:22:53
shebang to which the only appropriate response isn't a
00:22:56
longed, okay? Even if one believes that, the
00:23:01
sheriff has nothing to do with the proceedings, do we really
00:23:04
expect his number to, to tread lightly on cool and Diggins,
00:23:08
both of whom have called for Villanueva to resign, rather
00:23:12
going to war on a whim is, what Villanueva does naturally?
00:23:14
He was elected in 2018, and almost immediately ignited
00:23:17
fireworks for trying to hire an An aide whom the previous
00:23:20
Sheriff. Had hired falling of an example.
00:23:22
Yeah. Villanueva regular thumbs his
00:23:24
nose at the supervisors and time.
00:23:26
And again, has displayed a tendency to steer the squad car
00:23:28
out of his Lane into the jurisdiction of others.
00:23:31
He crumped about plans to clear the tent encampments on the
00:23:34
Venice boardwalk, even though that's the vale, walk of the Los
00:23:38
Angeles, Police Department. He Tangled with the County.
00:23:41
Coroner's office taught as autonomous entity over its plan
00:23:44
to release autopsy report that including the address of Cordero
00:23:48
who was shot in the back. By sheriff's, deputy Villanueva
00:23:52
who won office after convincing voters.
00:23:54
He was a progressive. Reformer, has instead been
00:23:57
compared to former President Donald Trump.
00:24:00
And there it is. There it is.
00:24:02
Folks, if you need to smear your political enemy especially in
00:24:07
California, just bring up President, Donald Trump.
00:24:11
That's all you have to do. Just bring him up and you've
00:24:15
effect that's your whole argument.
00:24:17
He's just like Don. Donald Trump.
00:24:19
Oh, well if he's Donald Trump, then I don't want any part of
00:24:22
him, because as soon as I mash or the leftist who read the LA
00:24:27
mag, see the words, Donald Trump, their hair stairs stands
00:24:32
up on the back of their neck, their skin crawls, and they
00:24:34
start to break out in a cold sweat, as he's drawn for years
00:24:39
of bad. Press, That's all built up to
00:24:40
the June primary where he pulled just Thirty point seven percent
00:24:43
of the vote and abysmal result for an incumbent Luna despite
00:24:47
having a little money in a low name.
00:24:49
D Garner 25.9%. Okay, all five supervisors have
00:24:54
now endorse Luna in the November 8th, runoff shocker.
00:24:59
Okay, essentially, it looks like Villanueva is toast, why?
00:25:03
Because the the supervisors all supported this far left, police
00:25:09
chief. Okay, and the LA County
00:25:13
Democratic party is okay, it is against its background.
00:25:17
Three weeks before the Mail in ballots are at homes that
00:25:20
investigators from villanueva's Office decided.
00:25:21
This was an appropriate and a him non politically-motivated
00:25:25
moments of dig through the belongings of an enemy.
00:25:27
It's abhorrent jaw-dropping and unbelievable or in a phrase,
00:25:31
very Villanueva. I don't know, who says it's very
00:25:34
Villanueva, stop trying to make that a thing.
00:25:37
That's not something people say, but this is one of those and I
00:25:42
love to read these stories because I love to read them from
00:25:45
this angle because you can really get an idea.
00:25:49
And I urge a lot of people because I know it's it forces
00:25:53
you to kind of look at this article and hone your skills and
00:25:56
sharpen your tools when it comes to argument because it's easier
00:26:00
to read a lot of stuff that agrees with you.
00:26:02
And you go, this was easy and agrees with me and stuff like
00:26:04
that. It's harder to read these
00:26:07
articles or requires the brainpower to look at this and
00:26:09
go and pick it apart and go, this is absolute garbage because
00:26:14
of X Y and Z. And here's my argument, that's
00:26:16
the better way to do it. So I always urge people Add
00:26:19
stuff like this like the LA mag. That's why I follow it.
00:26:21
That's why I follow like the San Francisco Chronicle, stuff like
00:26:23
that because you want to read what others are writing.
00:26:26
And if you can argue with the article and make your points,
00:26:29
it's a lot better. But this is obviously a very,
00:26:33
very biased article when it comes to Alex Villanueva.
00:26:37
Now, obviously they think Alex Villanueva is toast, they
00:26:41
obviously don't like him. So they call him akin to
00:26:44
President Donald Trump. They make them seem like he's
00:26:47
off his rocker and He's basically doing whatever the
00:26:50
heck you want, but if you look on the other side, there's a lot
00:26:53
of people who I think believe in the stuff that he did for, don't
00:26:57
forget that Alex Villanueva was also one of the strongest anti
00:27:01
lock down anti-vaccine mandate proponents when it came to being
00:27:06
a sheriff in California and he was probably one of the most,
00:27:09
well publicized he wasn't going to force lockdowns.
00:27:13
He was going to send his Sheriff's Department out which
00:27:15
in LA county, one of the strictest counties when it came
00:27:18
to lock. Downs.
00:27:19
The fact that he said, well, I'm not going along with this and
00:27:22
I'm not going to do this already made him Public Enemy.
00:27:24
Number One, he stood up for his belief which was that it's not
00:27:28
really it's not really my job to do.
00:27:33
So somebody says Dave Smith said it best I'm part of the problem.
00:27:35
They don't care that they're Hypocrites.
00:27:37
They want you to think they're better than you.
00:27:39
Yeah absolutely Dave Smith always great.
00:27:40
So always a great story. I'd love to talk about sort of
00:27:46
this coordinated attack from This is getting off topic, but
00:27:50
there's been this coordinated attack on libertarianism from a
00:27:55
lot of influencers. Recently.
00:27:57
And I wonder why all of a sudden people like Ben Shapiro and
00:28:01
Steven Crowder are going full-bore, Alex Jones, they're
00:28:04
all going like full-throated anti Libertarians.
00:28:06
But anyway, back to this story. So he was already sort of Public
00:28:11
Enemy. Number One, when he disavowed or
00:28:14
didn't listen to Barbara Ferrara, which He's the County
00:28:19
Supervisor. The, you know, he honor mean,
00:28:21
he's the county sheriff, he's not l.a.
00:28:24
City, so he has to listen to what the entire County.
00:28:27
Not just what l.a. city is talking about and because he
00:28:30
went against that narrative and because he pushed back against
00:28:33
it, he was already persona. Non grata in LA county, and they
00:28:38
were going to do everything, they could to get him out.
00:28:41
And this is just to them. Another example of why they want
00:28:45
to get rid of them, because he doesn't play ball and LA County.
00:28:49
He's not part of what they want him to be.
00:28:52
They want this Luna guy to get in as Sheriff because then they
00:28:56
have someone on their side and then they have someone who is
00:28:59
going to listen to what they want him to do.
00:29:02
He's going to follow the narrative.
00:29:03
He's going to be a good little Sheriff.
00:29:05
When reality Sheriff's are supposed to be their own
00:29:07
independent law, enforcement agency, and they are allowed to
00:29:10
have this jurisdiction and this ability to do these things.
00:29:15
I heard ones, I don't know if this is true, somebody said
00:29:17
Sheriff's are the only law. Enforcement that actually have
00:29:20
to swear oath to the Constitution, not just to the
00:29:22
city or whatever out of, that's true or not.
00:29:24
There's any City police officers who want to verify?
00:29:26
That might be different for each one, but I know that like, I
00:29:30
know, for example, that like all Sheriff's have to do are like
00:29:33
supposed to uphold the Constitution.
00:29:35
So he's already been sort of on the outs with the Democrats in
00:29:40
LA county. Now you add this in and they're
00:29:44
going apocalyptic over the fact that how dare you come at one of
00:29:48
our Our own one of our own elected County Board supervisors
00:29:52
group in there, for God knows how long it is. 80 years old
00:29:55
probably been in politics a little too long.
00:29:57
If you're the still, there at 80 years old and I venture to say
00:30:00
that probably most supervisors are make pulling, a pretty cushy
00:30:03
salary of over 200 dollars. They pull that here in San
00:30:07
Diego, we took an oath to the Constitution for LAPD.
00:30:12
Okay. So I was wrong.
00:30:13
I had I heard that somewhere. Yeah.
00:30:16
But I don't know how different police.
00:30:19
Departments do it. But anyway, what was I saying?
00:30:22
So the fact that he did this to one of their own really kind of
00:30:27
set them off and the fact that they say oh one of the negatives
00:30:32
was that he went in and cleaned up the tent encampments in
00:30:37
Venice Beach is somehow a Bad Thing even though a lot of
00:30:42
people were applauding. The fact that as Sheriff useless
00:30:45
jurisdiction, the city of La Falls within his jurisdiction,
00:30:49
Diction. Now, if you worked with the LAPD
00:30:53
and said, hey, do you want to help us clear these tent,
00:30:56
encampments? At LAPD said, no.
00:30:59
We want. Don't want to do that.
00:31:00
Okay, well, we're still going to enforce the laws here and we're
00:31:03
going to clean up all these tent encampments.
00:31:05
You still got sort of cheered for that and I guess they don't
00:31:09
like that fact, they don't, they want the tent encampments on
00:31:12
Venice Beach. They want that kind of look for
00:31:15
La. So, it is really interesting
00:31:17
that This isn't what this l a MAG articles, so biased.
00:31:23
And obviously it's going to a certain crowd again, you're only
00:31:27
certain kind of people are going to be reading l.a. magazine or
00:31:31
sick of fans like myself, who read it, so that I can tell you
00:31:34
guys about it, but it does just affirm their kind of worldview
00:31:39
that he's a, Donald Trump kind of even though he's a Democrat,
00:31:42
he's a, he wasn't out Democrat that he's this, Donald Trump.
00:31:49
sort of sheriff who's just kind of going off on his own and now
00:31:51
he's taking out political enemies, but the twist is this
00:31:57
This was the big twist that I was alluding to that will should
00:32:03
really make you? This should make your blood boil
00:32:07
as a California and this should really make you think we need to
00:32:11
start cleaning up this entire state from top to bottom.
00:32:15
The entire apparatus is so rotten from the core that we are
00:32:20
in in Desperate trouble, here in California and Want to talk
00:32:25
about. This is reason why I put the
00:32:26
elites hate you shirt as the pinned shirt this way.
00:32:30
And if again if you support me and you want to buy grab a shirt
00:32:34
great we got some more shirts coming out as well, but this
00:32:39
should really, really make your blood boil when it comes to
00:32:43
what's going on in California. So remember how in the LA mag
00:32:47
article, they talked about, well, the district attorney of
00:32:52
Los Angeles, Take it on. So that must mean that there was
00:32:58
no crime there. And then the Attorney General
00:33:01
Rob bonta, he also didn't take it on because there must be no
00:33:06
crime there. That's what they're going with.
00:33:09
That's sort of, that's sort of what they're going with.
00:33:14
That's their argument right now. All of a sudden, the sheriff
00:33:18
acts on his own power, the power that he has, he got a warrant
00:33:21
from a judge, he did everything they're supposed to do.
00:33:24
Was reported. They looked into it and they got
00:33:26
a search warrant, because they believed that there was evidence
00:33:28
of a crime that had occurred. So Alex Villanueva does this now
00:33:34
as of two hours ago and this article two hours ago,
00:33:39
California attorney general Rob bonta takes over Sheriff's probe
00:33:43
of supervisor coal and the Metro the State Attorney General's
00:33:48
office, has seized control of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's
00:33:51
Department investigation into allegations of political
00:33:53
corruption against the Metropolitan Transportation,
00:33:56
Authority, and County Supervisor.
00:33:58
Sheila Cole over contracts awarded to a nonprofit
00:34:01
organization. Run by one of Cole's closest
00:34:04
friends, the move by attorney Rob bonta, was confirmed in a
00:34:08
letter sent Tuesday to the Sheriff's Department.
00:34:10
Bonta's letter ordered the sheriff's department, to quote,
00:34:13
cease its investigative activity in refrain from any In
00:34:17
furtherance of these investigations including public
00:34:20
statements or court filings related to the investigations
00:34:23
and quote, Sheriff, Alex, Avila Villanueva had reached out to
00:34:26
the Attorney General's office last week asking it to
00:34:28
investigate allegations allegations that County
00:34:30
Inspector General, Max Huntsman and the County Council Office
00:34:34
had tipped off Cole to a plan search of her home by sheriff's
00:34:37
deputies, quote, given that share of Villanueva has recused
00:34:43
himself from the underlying investigation of Peace, over
00:34:45
violence and Patricia gains. And And by seeking our
00:34:48
assistance, he recognizes that he should be recused from any
00:34:51
related matters. I believe that the handling of
00:34:54
these matters by the doj will be in the public interest bonta
00:34:58
wrote. Therefore we will assume all
00:35:01
responsibility for the underlying and big investigation
00:35:05
of Peace over violence Patricia Diggins at all.
00:35:12
Right there. Why all the sudden is Rob bonta,
00:35:16
who had been asked before look into this, look into the what is
00:35:22
going on here? That's the point of the Attorney
00:35:24
General. You're supposed to look into
00:35:26
this stuff. Now, all of a sudden less than a
00:35:30
week later, who comes to the rescue of Sheila kuehl and peace
00:35:36
over violence Attorney. General Robert Banda because Rob
00:35:40
bonta is going To take it easy on all of this.
00:35:44
He's going to now. Take over the investigation,
00:35:47
nothing to see here, folks. Don't worry about it.
00:35:50
And that's it. I doubt you'll hear anything
00:35:54
more of this. It will get swapped swept under
00:35:57
the rug and that's it. Sheila kuehl will now get to
00:36:00
wiper hands of this and say they couldn't find anything wrong,
00:36:04
the Department of Justice investigated and they found I
00:36:07
did nothing wrong. And again, this comes back back
00:36:12
to the problem with a one-party State when you have a one-party
00:36:17
State. And it's not just this, I mean,
00:36:19
you're going to look throughout history when a one party or one
00:36:23
group of people run an entire state or country.
00:36:28
You can get away with a lot of political corruption because no
00:36:32
one is calling you out on it and no one has the power to actually
00:36:37
do anything about it. So when you have this one-party
00:36:41
State like you do in California, you finally.
00:36:45
Have someone like Alex Villanueva who wants to stand up
00:36:51
and say look there's been a crime committed here and I'm
00:36:55
going to investigate it under my power as the sheriff of Los.
00:36:58
North County because I believe there's a crime.
00:37:00
I got a warrant, and here we go. I'm going to investigate this
00:37:04
person and then like a white knight out of nowhere.
00:37:08
Rob bonta comes riding in and just takes over the entire
00:37:13
investigation. No, yeah he goes no, no.
00:37:17
Don't worry about Sheriff. I got it from here.
00:37:19
We'll take it from here. It's kind of like when you see
00:37:23
those shows with like the police and the FBI shows up and you
00:37:26
have to be, I go, well it's our Crime.
00:37:28
Now, it's our crime scene. Now then the local police are
00:37:31
always upset because they had a real vested interest in figuring
00:37:34
out what happened with this crime and they know that if it
00:37:37
goes to the FBI, the FBI doesn't really care as much and that's
00:37:40
exactly what's going to happen. So my prediction right now today
00:37:44
on September 21st, is that you won't hear anything anymore out
00:37:48
about this investigation that Sheila kuehl is going to get off
00:37:53
super easy. Nothing's going to happen, maybe
00:37:56
a little slap on the wrist. And that's it, Patricia Giggles.
00:38:02
Nothing will happen to her as well.
00:38:04
They she will continue to hold her board seat.
00:38:09
And that, that's where we're at. In LA county might be one of the
00:38:12
most corrupt counties, in all of America when it comes to this
00:38:17
stuff, as you can see, between Karen bass and Sheila kuehl.
00:38:21
You have one of the most corrupt counties in all of the United
00:38:26
States right here in California. So With that said, I guess it's
00:38:33
time to open it up to questions and comments.
00:38:35
Like we always do here on coughing California politics,
00:38:37
which is the point is that we sit and we chat.
00:38:40
We talk about California politics but I did want to open
00:38:42
that up. Oh, the final story, which is
00:38:44
not really a story came from this site that I'm not really
00:38:50
sure is called the rap, the essential source for
00:38:54
Entertainer, insiders or entertainment insiders.
00:38:58
Somebody who is close a lead. Fundraiser with close ties to a
00:39:02
new, some family told the wrap after the midterm elections
00:39:06
over. He is absolutely going to
00:39:08
announce that he's running for the presidency once.
00:39:10
Biden announced that he is not running no ifs ands or buts, he
00:39:14
will run if Biden does not talking about noodles.
00:39:17
So here we are. Noodles is going to run for
00:39:21
president. Sheila kuehl will not be
00:39:23
prosecuted for anything. Karen bass will likely probably
00:39:26
not be investigated for anything but that It's why I think any
00:39:31
sort of party that does really make reform and exposing
00:39:36
corruption a center pillar of their platform could have a good
00:39:42
chance in California. I think you have to, if you're
00:39:44
going to be an opposition party, here in California, reform, and
00:39:48
getting rid of Corruptions has to be a number one, plank of
00:39:56
your party platform, you cannot just go in and point it out.
00:39:59
You have to say, you The lay out.
00:40:01
A plan of how you're going to stop corruption in the state of
00:40:04
California. It's like Teddy.
00:40:06
Roosevelt did over 100 years ago, has to be done again where
00:40:11
people go in and say, look, I'm going to be a reformer and I'm
00:40:13
going to try and get corruption out as much as possible.
00:40:17
Problem is a lot of people believe that the people who are
00:40:19
doing the corruption are the good people, and they're on the
00:40:23
there on the good side, but I think there's a good amount of
00:40:25
people in the middle who are not fans of this sort of corruption
00:40:28
if they're educated about it. Remember, Or 25% independent, 25
00:40:32
percent Republican and 49 percent Democrat.
00:40:37
So the majority of people I didn't add up the numbers
00:40:40
correctly but it's only 49 percent Democrat and the rest of
00:40:44
them are independent and Republican and whatever King
00:40:49
candidates really call out corruption, when they themselves
00:40:51
are like the compromised. Well, I mean that's the thing
00:40:55
about candidates why what's what would make a candidate
00:40:58
compromised way And they're running for office.
00:41:02
I mean, we're talking about local races, we're talking about
00:41:05
State Assembly or something like that.
00:41:06
What would make someone so compromised that they wouldn't
00:41:09
be able to call out corruption? You would like to think that
00:41:13
people who are running for office are not really compromise
00:41:17
that they're just local citizens who are doing what they want to
00:41:19
do and looking to serve as public servants.
00:41:23
But I don't know what type of compromise.
00:41:27
I mean, if you're talking about some politicians, who have been
00:41:30
in power who been around for a while?
00:41:33
Yeah, I mean there's there's people who are compromised
00:41:38
because they just want to get to the next brass ring, and when
00:41:40
you do that guess. Happens.
00:41:44
Well, you have a lot of favors 20 people.
00:41:48
So And take a sip of my coffee right now, which is probably
00:41:51
cold by now. Yeah, just as expected.
00:42:01
Lukewarm coffee. So we're going to talk a lot
00:42:07
about, we got a lot of stuff coming up.
00:42:08
As I said in the next coming weeks, there's going to be as
00:42:13
many candidates as we possibly can get on.
00:42:14
We got a lot of propositions to cover.
00:42:17
We have talked about, we're going to live stream, the
00:42:22
debate, the debate. The debate that's going to only
00:42:29
be on radio so which I I'm kind of confused why they would agree
00:42:37
to a radio debate. So I am idea but that's
00:42:45
something that that's like the new some special.
00:42:47
That's the noodle special is that they he did this with John
00:42:52
Cox. He agreed to a radio debate.
00:42:57
Which in my mind is the worst thing you can do you can say
00:42:59
well I agreed to one debate. You know, I tweeted about this
00:43:02
and posted it last week is that politicians should be required
00:43:06
to debate? I think there should be a law
00:43:08
that requires politicians to debate at least twice before you
00:43:14
send out early ballots. So if early ballots go out
00:43:17
October 10th, Great. There has to be two scheduled
00:43:22
debates on a major media platform in visual form so that
00:43:28
people can tune in. What if you're hearing impaired
00:43:31
and you can't listen to the radio, right?
00:43:34
You should be able to watch it on TV with closed captioning and
00:43:37
all that stuff, stuff, or sign language, and there is a
00:43:43
marketed difference when you see people on stage, if you know,
00:43:46
the old story of what happened with JFK, And Richard Nixon was
00:43:51
it was with the first televised presidential debate where JFK
00:43:57
looked all swab looked all hands and looked great.
00:43:59
Richard Nixon on the other hand was sweating, he looked awful.
00:44:02
He looks he didn't look as good as JFK even though people say
00:44:07
who they listened to the debate, they thought Nixon won people
00:44:10
who watch the debate said, JFK one simply because JFK looked
00:44:14
better. There is something to be said
00:44:16
about looking at people and seeing how they interact on the
00:44:19
stage, so, I think that's one thing.
00:44:23
I think if I were to say, like if I were in the legislature, I
00:44:27
would say there has to be a law, requiring every single
00:44:31
politician to debate. And I think if you don't debate,
00:44:34
I think the punishment should be.
00:44:35
If you don't agree to any debates, then you should be
00:44:37
removed from the ballot. I think that's one thing.
00:44:39
You should just be removed from the ballot because obviously,
00:44:42
you're not interested in actually being a public servant.
00:44:45
You're just interested in trying to get to power as fast as
00:44:48
possible and you see a lot of the Democrats now who are in
00:44:51
safe. Strict don't even want it to be
00:44:54
because they see no real reason in debating.
00:44:57
But I think there should be even if you think that there are
00:45:00
races afar foregone conclusion conclusion, right?
00:45:04
If you look at the limits, how well they're going to lose by 20
00:45:06
points, you should still be able to have candidates who get out
00:45:11
there and bring up issues and be able to talk more about what
00:45:19
they believe. And I think you might get people
00:45:21
who watch it. Bait and say they may find
00:45:23
themselves agreeing with the other side or they hear these
00:45:26
other policy positions ago, I think.
00:45:31
Yeah, I agree. I think that this is a correct
00:45:32
and I, you know, all of a sudden you start to look into this
00:45:35
stuff a little bit more and just the exposure to those ideas and
00:45:39
those policies is so important in tantamount to voter block,
00:45:44
but I don't think they want that.
00:45:46
I don't think people in California want that especially
00:45:48
Democrats they don't want to debate Republicans.
00:45:51
They don't want to debate. Aryans because they are afraid.
00:45:54
They'll get called out for one and two.
00:45:56
They're afraid that the people will actually get exposed to
00:45:58
other points of view. And God forbid, you can't be
00:46:00
exposed to other points of view in the state of California.
00:46:03
It's one way or the highway. So I think that's that's
00:46:09
something I like if I were to make it a platform plank I would
00:46:11
say like debates have to be mandatory in California.
00:46:16
They absolutely have to be mandatory, maybe people may say
00:46:18
like it won't make really much of a difference, I think it
00:46:21
would actually Make a difference.
00:46:22
I think it would make a difference.
00:46:24
If you could see your state assemblyman talking to someone
00:46:28
or your state, senator talking to someone on a debate and they
00:46:31
actually have to show up in debate and County, Supervisors,
00:46:33
actually have to show up in debate because how else are we
00:46:36
going to be able to see their their points of view side by
00:46:40
side and and kind of challenged by one another if we don't let
00:46:45
people debate so it's very sad that in California they refused
00:46:51
to debate and they Play these games, you know, you see it in
00:46:55
like Pennsylvania as well with John fetterman is like he added
00:46:58
all these stipulations of how he's going to debate dr.
00:47:01
Oz and it's like super late and like the early ballot voting has
00:47:03
already been out for like three weeks so they're going to do one
00:47:07
debate like a week before the election.
00:47:11
So yeah, I think it's something that has to be done.
00:47:15
Look, if you're going to, if you want to be a politician, you
00:47:18
want to represent the people, you should be able to put your
00:47:20
ideas out in front of the people.
00:47:23
And I think this this the noodle special of we'll do it on a
00:47:26
radio. Like, what is this?
00:47:28
1940s, like what do we FDR here? Like we got to sit by the radio
00:47:33
and listen to him debate, Brian Dolly, but anyway, We're going
00:47:38
to be live stream, it. We're going to find the stream
00:47:41
or going to livestream it, and we're going to comment on it the
00:47:44
whole time, so see who else wants to join us?
00:47:46
Maybe get some other people Cynthia, will obviously be there
00:47:48
as well. What do you think of Newsome
00:47:51
challenging DeSantis to debate? I think it's amazing.
00:47:55
I think we should have more of that.
00:47:57
I'm a fan of debating. I love debating.
00:48:01
I think there should be more debates.
00:48:03
I think people should put their ideas out there because you
00:48:06
never know who you're going to. Change their mind.
00:48:09
And I think that's, that's one thing you have to think about, I
00:48:12
think governor should debate, why not?
00:48:14
Not in a presidential capacity? Why don't Governor's just debate
00:48:17
each other instead of throwing barbs and Spears and arrows over
00:48:21
social media? Why not?
00:48:23
You know, have Greg Abbott debate, the governor of New
00:48:27
York, Catherine, couch, or whatever her name is, have
00:48:31
DeSantis debate Newsome, have, Kristi noem debate, the Governor
00:48:36
Jay. What What's his name?
00:48:38
Pitcher from Illinois. So I think it'd be a great idea.
00:48:44
I think there should be more Governor's debates.
00:48:46
There should be a whole series of Governors debates.
00:48:49
You know, if we're going to really talk about what state is
00:48:51
doing better and what states, not doing better.
00:48:54
Okay? Put your money where your mouth
00:48:55
is. Go and debate it.
00:48:57
Go stand up for your goat. Go stand up for your beliefs.
00:49:03
Very pretentious of noodles, but hopefully it's in neutral and
00:49:06
iron on a venue. Newsom has a ton of backing.
00:49:08
Yeah. I mean, he probably asked for
00:49:10
like, it has to be done like USC or something like that.
00:49:13
So now that Ronda Saenz is, I don't think he's scared of it, I
00:49:17
think so. Absolutely, I think anyone
00:49:22
running for election, a level should happen.
00:49:23
Yeah II. Haven't met anyone who thinks
00:49:26
that that required debates are a bad thing.
00:49:29
I think a lot of people should be required to debate.
00:49:32
So, I'd pay to see that. I know a lot of people said,
00:49:36
they would pay to seeing Newsome and DeSantis debate, but I think
00:49:41
it should just be free. I think they just have it on a
00:49:43
major debating is a little bit of a lost art and that's why I
00:49:49
think it needs to come back and look.
00:49:50
It's because politicians, now don't really know how to debate
00:49:54
and they don't really know what they're talking about, you know,
00:49:58
a lot of debates now are just people stepping on each other's
00:50:00
toes. There's different forms of Eight
00:50:03
as well. There's the Lincoln-Douglas
00:50:05
debate. What's the one that they was?
00:50:08
The one that we usually do at Federalist Society?
00:50:12
It's one where you do like 20 minutes of opening and then the
00:50:15
other side does 20 minutes, then you get 10 minute, we're bottle,
00:50:17
and then you go time in a bottle and then there's all these
00:50:19
different rebuttals, but it's like laid out rebuttals.
00:50:22
It's like you don't get to like step on someone's toes.
00:50:26
That's what we do with Federalist Society.
00:50:27
We have a lot of debates we bring in a lot of people.
00:50:31
So This ant is and Newsome debate with Joe Rogan
00:50:39
moderating. Everyone's Joe Rogan and
00:50:41
Madhuri? I don't know if Joe Rogan would
00:50:43
be a best moderator, I don't even know who you'd get as a
00:50:46
neutral moderator at this point. Oxford style.
00:50:50
Yes, thank you Oxford style. Is where you do one the other,
00:50:55
and then you each get your own rebuttals.
00:50:58
I think that's what it is. I don't even know what the
00:51:00
Lincoln-Douglas debate is. I think the Lincoln-Douglas
00:51:01
debate is, like somebody gets like an hour to make their
00:51:05
point, and then the other side gets some other I, you know, I
00:51:09
forget. But anyway, the point is, is
00:51:13
that there's plenty of styles of debate right now, the style
00:51:16
debate that they like to go with.
00:51:17
With politicians allows them the most Opportunity to throw this
00:51:21
may personal insults and Barbs and stuff like that.
00:51:24
And it's not always the most informative.
00:51:28
But either way, I think politicians should be required
00:51:31
to debate. And I think they, there should
00:51:33
be more of it, you know, if you believe if you're a Democrat and
00:51:38
you believe 110% in your principles, then I think you
00:51:43
should be able to stand on a stage and you should be able to
00:51:46
look someone in the eye. You should be able to look those
00:51:48
EV evil. Will Republicans in the eye and
00:51:51
say my ideas are better than your ideas.
00:51:53
And here's why and be able to prove it.
00:51:56
What are you scared of? That's all I say.
00:51:59
Right? If that's if you believe so much
00:52:02
in your point of view, you should be able to stand up there
00:52:05
and dish it and take it and say my ideas are way better than
00:52:10
your ideas. Therefore, Here's my point and
00:52:16
I'm confident I'm not going to lose.
00:52:19
But they don't like that. Like could you imagine like a
00:52:22
little Alex Lee trying to debate someone and like an open Forum?
00:52:28
Like I couldn't imagine Alex Lee or like a Scott wiener trying to
00:52:32
debate someone and open Forum but again Scott Winters in a
00:52:36
safe District that's why he doesn't have to debate.
00:52:38
Anybody who figures? What's the point of debating?
00:52:39
I'm going to win by like 80% so who cares, but I think you
00:52:44
should still be able to debate someone.
00:52:45
I think someone should be able if someone runs against you, you
00:52:48
should have to debate them. Anyway.
00:52:50
All right. So thank you to everybody who
00:52:53
grabbed a shirt today. Yeah.
00:52:56
Still working on some more shirt designs and stuff like that.
00:52:59
Fixing them, making them all nice and clean and everything
00:53:02
like that. And like I said, pulling a
00:53:05

from open. The books will be on at 8:00,
00:53:11
tune in on YouTube. If you can't listen or tune in
00:53:15
on YouTube, you can always tune in on Spotify.
00:53:18
A or Apple or Google or any place like that where you listen
00:53:22
to podcast will be posting that there as well.
00:53:24
Okay. And some other people on some
00:53:26
other big names. Like I said, we're trying to get
00:53:28
Brian Dolly to come on for an episode and chat with him.
00:53:31

00:53:34
the pike and a lot of stuff is happening.
00:53:35

00:53:40
Big midterm election coming up. Also thinking about whether
00:53:45
there should be a midterm live stream and stuff like that, but
00:53:47
with all that said, I will be back next week as always, we're
00:53:51
coughing California politics every Wednesday at 9 a.m. and
00:53:55
I'll see all of you I guess later tonight.
00:53:59
All right, have a good one. Bye.
